Job Post: 2D Environment / Level Editor Artist – Unity Tilemap ArtistWe are looking for a 2D Environment / Level Editor Artist to support our indie 2D action-platformer game built in Unity.The role is focused on taking existing level grayboxes / blockouts and turning them into polished game environments using tilemaps, props, backgrounds, decorations, lighting, and strong scene composition.You do not need to design the entire gameplay from scratch. The main responsibility is to make the levels feel alive, readable, beautiful, and consistent with the game’s art direction.ResponsibilitiesWork inside Unity to build and polish 2D game environments.Take grayboxed levels or rough room layouts and transform them into finished scenes.Use Unity Tilemaps efficiently to create platforms, walls, floors, interiors, outdoor areas, and room variations.Dress scenes with props, background elements, foreground elements, decals, and environmental details.Improve level readability, visual flow, and player guidance.Create strong environmental composition for rooms, corridors, platforms, and combat areas.Support level pacing visually by making areas feel different, memorable, and easy to navigate.Reuse existing art assets smartly without breaking consistency or creating unnecessary custom work.Work closely with the game designer, level designer, artist, and developer.Follow references, mood boards, and art direction.Keep Unity scenes clean, organized, and easy for developers to work with.Required SkillsGood experience with Unity 2D.Good knowledge of Unity Tilemap workflow.Strong eye for 2D environment composition.Ability to turn graybox/blockout levels into polished playable environments.Understanding of platformer level readability: clear paths, hazards, platforms, doors, enemy areas, and points of interest.Ability to work with existing assets and reuse them creatively.Good sense of visual pacing, atmosphere, and scene variety.Basic understanding of colliders, sorting layers, prefabs, and scene organization in Unity.Ability to follow art direction and feedback.Organized workflow and good communication.Nice to HaveExperience with 2D platformer games or Metroidvania-style levels.Pixel art experience.Experience with parallax backgrounds.Experience with lighting, fog, particles, or simple environmental VFX in Unity.Ability to create or edit small props when needed.Experience optimizing 2D scenes for mobile games.What You Will ReceiveLevel grayboxes / rough layouts.Existing art assets, tilesets, props, characters, and references.Clear direction for the mood, theme, and purpose of each level.Feedback and support from the team.What We Are Looking ForWe need someone who enjoys building environments inside Unity, not just creating standalone art.The ideal candidate can look at a simple graybox and imagine how to turn it into a complete game scene with depth, atmosphere, strong composition, and clear gameplay readability.This role is perfect for someone who likes 2D games, tilemaps, scene dressing, and environmental storytelling.To ApplyPlease send to hr@deux-entertainment.comPortfolio or screenshots of 2D environments you worked on.Examples of Unity scenes, tilemap work, or platformer levels if available.A short description of your experience with Unity 2D.Your hourly rate or project rate.Your availability per week.
