Backend Team Lead (Java & Go)Role OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Backend Team Lead to lead the design, development, and scaling of the core backend systems powering a critical healthcare platform used by thousands of healthcare providers and patients. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management responsibilities and requires deep expertise in distributed systems, backend architecture, and large-scale application development.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor a team of backend engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous growth.Drive the design, development, and delivery of scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs.Own the architecture and implementation of distributed systems and microservices capable of handling large-scale workloads.Guide technical decisions related to system design, scalability, reliability, and performance optimization.Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to deliver business-critical solutions.Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, and development processes across the team.Oversee system security, availability, observability, and operational excellence in production environments.Support hiring activities, onboarding, and career development for backend engineers.Contribute to long-term technical strategy, roadmap planning, and architectural direction.Requirements10+ years of backend engineering experience with strong proficiency in Java and Go.Previous experience leading or mentoring engineering teams in a technical leadership capacity.Strong expertise in system design, distributed systems, scalability patterns, and performance optimization.Hands-on experience with message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.Proven experience designing and operating microservices architectures at scale.Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Excellent problem-solving abilities and experience working within complex distributed environments.Nice to HaveFamiliarity with healthcare data standards such as HL7 and FHIR.Experience working in healthcare, health-tech, or other highly regulated industries.Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
