PURPOSE:Responsible for directing, controlling, coordinating and participating in all Engineering activitiesIn charge of the daily operation of the Engineering departmentIn charge of the maintenance, repair and engineering of the Hotel operation.In charge of the security aspects of the hotel complex.Main ResponsibilitySupervises and participates in:Installing, maintaining, repairing and operating Hotel machinery, equipment and related systems.Fabricating, maintaining, installing or repairing plumbing and sanitary facilities.Painting and varnishing surfaces, trimmings and fixtures of the building and other structures.Implements preventive maintenance and repair schedules for all hotel complex, machinery, equipment and other facilities.Develops and implements cost reduction, work simplification methods and techniques and improvement programmesGeneral maintenance of the buildingMaintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical and others.Operation trouble shooting.Prepares and/or recommends requisitioning/ordering pertaining to maintenance of equipment, materials and supplies.Participates in the execution of new projects including planning and costing.Coordinates with Security Contractors in all aspect of the safety and security of the hotel propertiesPrepares work schedules.Participates in the Engineering budget and business plan preparation.Holds regular communication meetings with the staff, Director of Engineering and other departments.Maintains discipline.Ensures the implementation of all instructions given by the Management / Director of EngineeringConducts routine inspections of the entire building including mechanical areas.Supervises the implementation of all maintenance contracts.To be fully in-charge of the fire and safety policies and procedure for the hotel.Carries out fire brigade duties as requiredCoordinate with the Dubai Civil Defense for a yearly Fire Evacuation DrillInitiates energy and water conservation plans, as per Accor’s environmental charter.Responds quickly to guest request / complaints ensuring courteous, professional service.Ensures that health, hygiene and safety regulations are complied with and applied in the hotel in compliance with HACCP standards and procedures set by the Dubai MunicipalityTechnical ResponsibilitiesTrouble shooting, operation, repair and maintenance of:Mechanical services such as A/C unit, exhaust and ventilationHeater and coolers system, water supply and waste water treatmentSanitary and plumbing, steam generators, swimming pool filtrationElectrical services such as power supply, main circuit breakers, transformers, high and low tension, emergency generators, room switches, telephones, lifts and lightingLife safety equipment such as fire fighting, sprinklers, detectors, fire pumps, exit signage and extinguishers.Utilities supply such as hot and cold water, electricity, gas, fuelKitchen and laundry equipmentsGeneral building maintenance such as masonry, painting, carpentry, etc.Employee HandlingIdentify and develop staff capacities and skills among the teamProvide support and guidance to subordinatesPlan and organize training such as civil defense, first aid, fire drill trainingsPrepares and participates in the departmental training planGeneralTo report for duty punctually and well groomed.To maintain good working relationships with own colleagues, and all other departments.To have a complete understanding of and adhere to the Hotel’s policy relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.To maintain a high standard of personal operation.Executive DutiesReport directly to the GM.To assume the functions and responsibilities of Duty Manager in accordance with the Hotel's Duty Manager's Roster.Occasional DutiesTo carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned or as dictated by the unexpected Business levels.To respond to changes in the function as dictated by the industry, company or the hotel.To carry out quarterly, bi-yearly, yearly inventory of operating equipment.It is a company policy that the Chief Engineer may be sent for a temporary assignment within Dubai or abroad to a sister hotel for engineering related matters.QualificationsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field.7+ years of experience in hotel engineering or facilities management, with at least 3 years in a senior engineering leadership role.Strong technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety.Experience in budgeting, project management, and contractor management.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Knowledge of sustainability practices and energy management systems is preferred.Familiarity with local regulations, building codes, and safety standards.CompetenciesStrong leadership and team management capabilities.Analytical and detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in relevant software and systems, including BMS (Building
