Job SummaryThe Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing all commercial activities related to construction projects and manufacturing operations, including contracts management, cost control, pricing strategies, procurement coordination, client negotiations, revenue optimization, and business profitability. The role ensures that projects and manufacturing activities are executed within budget while maximizing commercial performance and minimizing contractual and financial risks.Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial & Contract Management* Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of construction and manufacturing projects.* Review, negotiate, and administer client contracts, subcontract agreements, and supplier contracts.* Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies, and legal requirements.* Handle claims, variations, extensions of time (EOT), and dispute resolution processes.* Monitor contract performance and identify commercial risks and opportunities.Cost Control & Budgeting* Develop project budgets, cost plans, and commercial forecasts.* Monitor project costs versus budgets and recommend corrective actions.* Oversee cost reporting, cash flow forecasting, and financial performance analysis.* Ensure profitability targets are achieved across projects and manufacturing operations.* Support value engineering initiatives to optimize costs without compromising quality.Tendering & Estimation Support* Participate in tender preparation, pricing strategies, and bid evaluations.* Coordinate with estimation, procurement, engineering, and project management teams during tender stages.* Analyze project specifications, BOQs, and technical requirements from a commercial perspective.* Review supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitiveness.Procurement & Supply Chain Coordination* Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure cost-effective purchasing strategies.* Evaluate supplier commercial proposals and negotiate pricing and payment terms.* Monitor material cost fluctuations and their impact on project profitability.* Support strategic sourcing and vendor management activities.Client & Stakeholder Management* Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.* Participate in commercial meetings and negotiations with external stakeholders.* Resolve commercial issues affecting project progress or profitability.* Ensure client satisfaction while protecting company commercial interests.Financial & Reporting Responsibilities* Prepare monthly commercial reports, KPIs, and profitability analysis.* Monitor project billing, invoicing, collections, and payment certifications.* Coordinate with finance departments regarding revenue recognition and financial planning.* Support internal and external audits related to commercial activities.Team Leadership* Lead and mentor commercial engineers, quantity surveyors, estimators, and contract administrators.* Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.* Support staff development and succession planning within the commercial function. Qualifications* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, or related field.* MBA or professional commercial certifications are preferred.Experience* Minimum 15–25 years of experience in construction, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.* Strong experience in contracts management, cost control, and commercial operations.* Experience in large-scale construction projects and manufacturing environments is highly preferred.Technical Skills* Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and construction commercial practices.* Excellent understanding of costing, budgeting, and financial analysis.* Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.* Knowledge of procurement and supply chain processes.* Ability to analyze BOQs, drawings, and project specifications.Soft Skills* Strong negotiation and communication skills.* Leadership and team management abilities.* Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.* High attention to detail and analytical capability.* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
