Cost Estimation Engineer

Key accountabilities and decision ownership: Develop detailed cost estimates for new and existing projects, including material costs, labour, machine hours, and indirect expenses.Analyse costs of various types of wood and materials (e.g., hardwood, softwood, veneers, finishing chemicals).Collaborate with procurement to understand material prices and fluctuations, ensuring estimates remain accurate.Prepare budgets for upcoming projects and provide insight into cost-saving opportunities.Monitor actual costs vs. estimated costs throughout the project lifecycle, identifying variances and proposing adjustments.Prepare and maintain cost estimation reports, including budgetary analyses and project costing summaries.Develop and refine cost estimation methods to improve accuracy and efficiency. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.Experience 3-5 years of experience in cost estimation, ideally in wood manufacturing or a related industry.Strong analytical and numerical skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with costing software.Excellent communication skills to collaborate across departments.Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
