Participants will be grouped into beginner, intermediate, and upper-intermediate levels based on a pre-assessment. Each volunteer will be assigned to one group and will work with tailored content designed to meet the specific needs of that proficiency level. Your support will empower WFP staff to communicate more effectively, collaborate more confidently, and represent our work with greater impact.Task typeTeaching, Training and MentorshipTask descriptionThe WFP Egypt Country Office is seeking six dedicated online volunteers “Tutors” to support a group of WFP employees in improving their English language proficiency across three levels: Intermediate, and Upper Intermediate. Each volunteer will be assigned to one group and will be key in designing and delivering a customized learning experience. The goal is to achieve a measurable improvement in participants’ English communication skills, with a target of at least 30% proficiency improvement by the end of the assignment. Key tasks: 1. Initial Assessment: - Conduct a pre-assessment to evaluate the current English proficiency of assigned participants. - Use the results to inform course design and group placement. 2. Customized Course Design: - Develop or adapt learning materials tailored to the group’s level and professional needs. - Focus on practical language use in workplace contexts such as meetings, email writing, and presentations. 3. Weekly Virtual Sessions: - Facilitate two interactive weekly classes (1 hour each) via online platforms. - Ensure sessions are engaging, inclusive, and aligned with learning objectives. 4. Interactive Learning Activities: - Incorporate group discussions, role plays, case studies, and real-world scenarios to enhance engagement and retention. 5. Assignments and Practice: - Provide short, practical assignments or exercises for participants to complete between sessions. - Offer feedback and guidance to reinforce learning. 6. Final Assessment and Feedback: - Administer a post-assessment to measure progress and identify areas for continued improvement. - Provide detailed feedback to participants. Collaboration and Reporting: 7. Work closely with WFP HR focal points to monitor progress, adjust content as needed, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.Assignment requirementsRequired ExperienceRequired experience Native or near native English proficiency Proven ability to develop and customize learning materials/curriculum to meet diverse proficiency levels (no fixed curriculum is provided; tutors must design content tailored to participants’ needs) Minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching or coaching English as a second language, preferably in a professional or adult learning context TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or equivalent certification is highly desirable. Strong facilitation and familiarity with virtual learning tools and platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
