SEICA is growing its remote engineering team and is looking for a mid-level Electrical & Control Design Engineer to support our UK water and wastewater design workload from Egypt.This is a delivery-focused design role within an Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (EICA) team. The emphasis is electrical design, with enough instrumentation and control awareness to coordinate cleanly with the wider discipline.About the roleYou will produce electrical design deliverables for water and wastewater assets such as treatment works, pumping stations, lift stations and networks, working remotely as part of a UK-led design team. You will take design intent from senior engineers and turn it into accurate, coordinated, issue-ready drawings and calculations.Employment type: Full-Time ContractLocation: Fully remote, based in EgyptWhat you will doProduce LV electrical designs: single line diagrams, schematic and wiring diagrams, block cable diagrams, instruments and telemetry schedules.Carry out and check electrical calculations: cable sizing, volt drop, load schedules, fault level and discrimination, earthing and lightning protection.Develop and maintain cable schedules, load lists, MCC and distribution board schedules, and termination schedules.Specify and schedule electrical equipment: MCCs, distribution boards, VFDs, soft starters, small power and lighting.Coordinate the electrical design with the instrumentation, control and automation scope, including interfaces with PLC/SCADA panels, instruments and P&IDs.Maintain design records and revision/document control to a consistent, auditable standard.Respond to design queries and incorporate review comments and client feedback through to issue.What you will bring (Essentials)Degree in Electrical Power / Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.Around 3 to 7 years of electrical design experience, ideally including water, wastewater, or comparable infrastructure or industrial process projects.Sound, demonstrable competence in electrical design fundamentals: SLDs, cable sizing and volt drop, load and fault calculations, earthing, and protection.Proficiency in electrical CAD and design tools (see below).Strong written and spoken English, sufficient to produce design documentation and coordinate directly with a UK team.Reliable home working setup: stable internet and a suitable workstation.An accurate, methodical approach with genuine attention to detail and version control.Desirable (not essential)Experience on UK water sector projects and familiarity with British Standards, in particular BS 7671, and water industry specifications such as WIMES.Exposure to IEC 60364, IEC 61439 (assemblies) and IEC 62305 (lightning protection).Awareness of hazardous area requirements (ATEX / DSEAR) in a water context.Instrumentation and control design exposure: instrument schedules, I/O lists, control panel design, PLC/SCADA familiarity.Experience working as part of a distributed or remote design team.SoftwareAutoCAD / AutoCAD ElectricalElectrical calculation software (for example Amtech / Trimble ProDesign, ElectricalOM or similar)Familiarity with PLC/SCADA and Network ArchitecturesWhat we offerCompetitive Salary / RateFully remote work from EgyptTraining, progression, BS / WIMES upskillingThe opportunity to work on UK water infrastructure projects within an established EICA teamHow to applyApply via LinkedIn or send your CV to seif.kamel@seica.co.ukWe welcome applications from engineers whose experience is built on IEC or regional standards; UK water and British Standards experience is a plus, not a requirement.
