The resort is expected to feature luxurious accommodations, refined dining concepts, wellness and spa facilities, and curated experiences designed to connect guests with the history, beauty, and authenticity of the Nile.About The JobWe are looking for a visionary and inspirational Executive Chef to lead the culinary operations of Mandarin Oriental, Aswan. The Executive Chef will oversee all culinary experiences across the resort, ensuring the highest levels of quality, creativity, consistency, hygiene, and guest satisfaction while driving innovation and operational excellence throughout the kitchens.The Executive Chef will be responsible for the overall culinary strategy and execution across all dining venues, in-room dining, banqueting, outside catering, and future revenue-generating culinary initiatives, while fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement aligned with Mandarin Oriental’s luxury standards.As Executive Chef, you will be responsible for the following duties:Oversee and manage the overall culinary operations of the resort, including restaurants, bars, lounges, banqueting, in-room dining, outside catering, and special events.Ensure all culinary offerings consistently meet or exceed Mandarin Oriental luxury standards for quality, presentation, taste, creativity, and hygiene.Lead, inspire, and develop the culinary brigade, fostering a positive and high-performing kitchen culture focused on excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.Be fully responsible and accountable for food costs, kitchen operating expenses, kitchen supplies, energy usage, and equipment management.Prepare and manage departmental operating budgets, forecasting, and manpower planning in line with business levels and financial targets.Work closely with the Executive Sous Chef, Pastry Chef, F&B leadership team, and Hotel Management to develop seasonal menus, culinary promotions, and innovative dining concepts aligned with the resort’s positioning and annual marketing plans.Plan, coordinate, and supervise all menu implementations and culinary activations in a timely and organised manner.Develop and introduce new dishes, concepts, and guest experiences by staying current with global culinary trends, luxury dining expectations, and local market opportunities.Promote and integrate local Egyptian and regional ingredients where appropriate while maintaining international luxury dining standards.Ensure all kitchen operations comply with local health regulations, HACCP standards, food safety procedures, and MOHG policies.Conduct regular inspections of all kitchens, stewarding areas, and food preparation spaces, ensuring cleanliness, organisation, safety, and operational efficiency.Continuously review and improve kitchen procedures, workflows, and operational efficiencies to optimise productivity and guest satisfaction.Oversee manpower distribution and scheduling across all kitchen operations while anticipating business demands and operational changes.Ensure strong communication and collaboration between all culinary outlets and operational departments.Support sustainability initiatives, waste reduction programmes, and responsible sourcing practices in line with MOHG ESG objectives.Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and ensure product quality, consistency, and cost effectiveness.Work closely with the Food & Beverage Director to identify opportunities to enhance guest satisfaction, increase revenues, and improve operational performance across all F&B venues.Handle guest feedback, comments, and culinary-related complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring swift corrective action and service recovery where necessary.Maintain regular guest interaction and visibility throughout the resort’s dining venues to understand guest preferences and expectations.Remain informed on restaurant guides, luxury dining trends, culinary media, and key figures within the local and international food and beverage industry.Support the company’s philosophy, culture, and service standards through the delivery of Legendary Quality Experiences and the principles of D.E.L.I.G.H.T.Perform any other reasonable duties or special projects as assigned by Hotel Management.Experience And EducationAs Executive Chef, we expect from you:Extensive culinary leadership experience within luxury hotels, resorts, or standalone fine dining establishments.Previous Executive Chef or senior culinary leadership experience within an international luxury hospitality environment is strongly preferred.Pre-opening resort experience is highly advantageous.Strong understanding of luxury resort operations, destination dining, and high-end guest expectations.Culinary degree, professional chef qualification, or equivalent formal culinary training preferred.International experience within luxury hospitality brands is advantageous.Technical Skills And CompetenciesStrong leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop diverse culinary teams.Excellent understanding of international cuisine, modern culinary techniques, fine dining standards, and luxury presentation.Strong financial acumen with experience managing food cost controls, labour costs, budgeting, forecasting, and kitchen profitability.Proven ability to develop innovative dining concepts and elevate culinary experiences.Strong organisational and operational management skills within complex multi-outlet environments.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.Strong understanding of HACCP, food safety, hygiene regulations, and kitchen compliance standards.Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced luxury resort environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.Strong guest engagement and service-oriented mindset.Fluency in English is required; Arabic is advantageous.
