Head of Programs

We are looking for a Head of Programs to build SAWA's program portfolio from the ground up. This is not a management role for an established department. It is a builder role — for someone who is energized by designing something new, proving it works, and laying out the foundations that will last. WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR You are a senior programming professional with a track record of designing and delivering social impact programs that work. You are drawn to this role not because of what SAWA already is — but because of what it could become. What you’ll do Translate SAWA’s strategy into a coherent, evidence-led program portfolio the organization can act on. Design programs that respond to real needs and are benchmarked against leading models. Oversee program delivery — from piloting to scale-up — and own quality, timelines, and budgets. Build the monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems that prove and improve impact. Recruit, develop, and lead a strong program team. Steward delivery partnerships with universities, implementation partners, and technical experts. What we’re looking for +7 years in program design and management, including 5+ years leading programs or a program team. A demonstrated track record of designing and delivering social, educational, or public-impact programs. Real experience with monitoring, evaluation, and learning — not as a compliance exercise, but as a tool for continuous improvement. Experience building and managing program teams and implementation partners. Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred in a relevant field (social sciences, public policy, psychology, public health, or education). Fluent Arabic and strong English. Deep familiarity with the Egyptian social and institutional context, and genuine sensitivity to the family and marriage domain. Experience in family, youth, education, or public health programs is a strong advantage.
