Junior Database Administrator

Job SummaryWe are looking for a Database Administrator with 1–2 years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with SQL Server, along with exposure to PostgreSQL and MongoDB. In this role, you will support the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of database environments while working closely with senior DBAs and development teams to ensure database reliability, performance, and security.Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase AdministrationAssist in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of database environments.Support day-to-day database administration activities across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.Monitor database health, availability, and performance, and escalate issues when necessary.Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and health checks.Performance MonitoringMonitor database performance and assist in identifying performance bottlenecks.Support query optimization and indexing activities under the guidance of senior team members.Help troubleshoot database-related issues affecting applications and services.Backup & RecoveryExecute scheduled database backups and verify backup integrity.Assist in database restoration and disaster recovery sing.Support the implementation of backup and recovery best practices.Security & ComplianceAssist in managing database user accounts, permissions, and access controls.Help maintain database security standards and follow company policies.Support regular database maintenance activities to ensure data integrity.Automation & DocumentationAssist in automating routine database administration tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, or similar scripting languages.Maintain database documentation, including configurations, procedures, and operational guides.Support database deployments and environment setup activities.CollaborationWork closely with developers, infrastructure engineers, and senior DBAs to resolve database-related issues.Participate in troubleshooting production incidents when required.Continuously learn and adopt database administration best practices and new technologies.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.1–2 years of experience in Database Administration or a similar role.Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server.Basic working knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB.Understanding of relational database concepts, normalization, indexing, and SQL querying.Technical SkillsExperience administering Microsoft SQL Server (2016 or later is preferred).Basic knowledge of PostgreSQL and MongoDB administration.Proficiency in SQL and T-SQL.Basic scripting knowledge using PowerShell or other scripting languages is a plus.Familiarity with database backup and recovery concepts.Understanding of database monitoring and performance tuning fundamentals.Exposure to cloud database services (AWS or Azure) is an advantage.Familiarity with Git, Docker, or CI/CD concepts is considered a plus.Soft SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Good communication and teamwork abilities.Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset.Preferred QualificationsExposure to SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB in a production environment.Basic knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery concepts.Relevant database certifications or willingness to pursue certification is a plus.
