The Lead Primary Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design and engineering of HV & EHV substation primary systems. This role ensures all designs meet technical specifications, project requirements, and international standards while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.RESPONSIBILITIESLead the design of HV/EHV substation primary systems (AIS & GIS)Prepare and review key deliverables including:Single Line Diagrams (SLD)General Arrangement (GA) drawingsEquipment layoutsPerform equipment sizing and selection (transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, CTs, VTs, surge arresters)Ensure compliance with international standards (IEC, IEEE) and client specificationsCoordinate with secondary design, civil, and protection teamsReview vendor drawings and technical submittalsProvide technical support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phasesLead design reviews and resolve technical issues with clients and consultantsEnsure timely delivery of design packages in line with project schedulesMentor and guide junior engineers within the teamREQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering8–12 years of experience in substation design, with a focus on HV & EHV projectsStrong expertise in HV/EHV substation design (66kV – 500kV)In-depth knowledge of AIS & GIS substationsFamiliarity with IEC / IEEE standardsProficiency in engineering software (AutoCAD, ETAP, CYME or similar)Strong understanding of substation equipment and layouts
