Further, an expected pipeline of projects covering climate change adaptation, natural resources management, biodiversity restoration and risk reduction is expected. FAO Egypt also sits in various coordination mechanisms in the country, in a strategic capacity, as a technical lead for food systems and agriculture.To deliver its program, FAO Egypt is working with several line ministries such as Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health and Population, Ministry of Social Solidarity, Ministry of Water Irrigation, and Ministry of Youth and Sports.Reporting LinesThe National OCOP Specialist will work under the direct supervision of the FAO Representative and the day-to-day guidance of the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme), and the technical supervision of the Lead Technical Officer and Technical Adviser at NSP, in close coordination with the national counterparts, the OCOP National Focal Points and the Project Manager.Technical focusThe National Specialist (OCOP) will support the implementation of the project through coordination, technical inputs, capacity building, and contribution to key analytical, planning, and reporting activities.Tasks And Responsibilities Support the organization and participate at the project inception workshop to raise awareness, discuss with the stakeholders the project objectives, and validate the training and extension areas and implementation modalities. Contribute to the development of the detailed workplan for the implementation of the project activities in the project country. Contribute to the establishment of the OCOP Coordination Mechanism in the project country through the National Task Force to support the implementation of the OCOP initiative. Liaise with the international value chain consultant and support the value chain analysis of SAP development in the project country and the draft report. Prepare training materials (program, presentations and other handing-out materials), organize and participate at the trainings/workshops and other capacity building activities on sustainable SAP production for smallholders, family farmers and other value chain actors. Assist the development of a draft national strategy/sectoral plan/guidelines/standard for SAP development in the project country. Assist the formulation of concept notes and proposals for resource mobilization. Undertake field missions as and when required. Participate in the project workshops, trainings and policy dialogues at national, regional and global levels. Prepare monthly reports on activities undertaken, problems faced and possible solutions. Contribute to the organization of the Final Workshop to discuss the way forward. Contribute to the draft terminal report of the project. Carry out any other activities relevant to this assignment.CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWINGMinimum Requirements University degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in Agriculture or any other field related to the work of the Organization. At least 3 years of experience in training and in sustainable plant production, project coordination, and related fields. Working knowledge (level C) of English and Arabic.
