Quality Control and Food Safety Specialist

The candidate will work on verifying quality control, monitoring that food safety procedures and documentation are being followed, problem solving as it relates to food safety issues, and assisting with compliance with HACCP, GMP, and SQF.And he/she will oversee the maintenance and upgrade of sanitation and hygiene standards to ensure all food served to guests and employees is free of microbiological, chemical, and physical contamination and all work areas conform to the required hygiene and sanitation levels.Sample collection for microbial testing.Record test results and maintain appropriate documentation.Select produce samples for food safety, time study, and quality control testing.Responsible for product quality inspections and proper storageResponsible for quality checks for all ready-prepared and raw foods.Verify and communicate to appropriate departments any findings that relate to food safety and/or quality issues.Assist with the maintenance of food prep and handling equipment, surfaces, and tools.Help develop, maintain, and update all records, manuals, training procedures, and product specification books as they pertain to food safety and quality control.Assist with preparation for any and all food safety audits.Perform other duties as required by management.Responsible for developing and implementing food safety training programs for employees to ensure they are aware of proper food handling procedures Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Agriculture, or related fieldUnderstanding of food hygiene and sanitation practicesExperience with product inspection and basic lab/sample testingStrong attention to detail and reporting skillsAbility to maintain accurate records and documentationGood communication skills and ability to work with different departmentsAbility to conduct basic food safety training for staffBasic computer skills (MS Office)Ability to work flexible shifts if required.
