Northstone is a technology-first accounting company serving Danish small and medium-sized businesses. We run the monthly close as a system: AI handles intake, task generation, quality checks and reporting, and trained people review, decide and sign off. Every client is served by a small team, so service never depends on any one person.We are building a Cairo-based production team that works alongside our AI tooling to keep clients' books clean, compliant and closed on time, every month. This is the first senior hire into that team.The roleYou own the monthly bookkeeping production for a portfolio of Danish SME clients. You work from AI-generated task lists and documented playbooks, and a Danish senior on your team handles everything client-facing and authority-facing (final approval, filing, sign-off). Your job is to make the books right and the close on time.What you will do:• Prepare entries, bank and account reconciliations, and VAT workings• Run each client's monthly close to deadline• Work from AI-generated task lists and resolve automated QA findings• Keep each client's context file accurate, so the work stays consistent and repeatable• Hand a clean, QA-passed reporting pack to the Danish senior for approval and filingThis is a production and quality role, not a client-relationship role. You will not need to speak Danish or talk to clients or the tax authority; the Danish senior owns that.What we offer:• Competitive compensation• Fully remote, with near-complete overlap with Danish hours (Cairo is one hour ahead of Copenhagen)• A modern, AI-augmented workflow, so you spend your time on judgment and quality, not manual data chasing• Structured onboarding: coursework and levels you clear before touching live clients• A real team around you, including a Danish senior who owns the client and authority relationship • 4+ years in bookkeeping, accounting or audit, ideally including time at a Big Four or other reputable firm (EY, PwC, KPMG, Deloitte or similar)• A background in hands-on bookkeeping, outsourcing / Business Process Solutions, tax compliance or accounting-advisory is a stronger fit than pure external audit• A professional qualification: ACCA (part- or fully-qualified) or ESAA membership preferred; US CPA or equivalent is a plus• Strong, fluent English, written and spoken (the entire workflow and your senior operate in English)• Confident working in cloud accounting platforms, and quick to learn new systems (Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP or similar)• Comfortable working inside a systematized, AI-augmented process: you follow written procedures, trust the checklist, and are low-ego about review and QA• Meticulous, deadline-driven and reliable, with a stable internet connection and a power backup plan• Looking for a stable, long-term remote home, not a short contractNice to have: exposure to VAT, prior experience working remotely for a foreign company, and familiarity with structured or version-controlled documentation. No Danish required.
