Job PurposeTo ensure the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of the electrical power systems across the pharmaceutical manufacturing facility by leading the design, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of electrical infrastructure, while ensuring full compliance with safety regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements.Key Responsibilities1. Electrical Power Systems ManagementManage and oversee the operation and maintenance of the facility’s electrical power distribution systems including Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) networks.Supervise the performance and maintenance of electrical equipment such as:TransformersMain Distribution Boards (MDB) and Sub-Main Distribution Boards (SMDB)Diesel GeneratorsAutomatic Transfer Switches (ATS)Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systemsEnsure continuous power supply to critical pharmaceutical production and laboratory areas.Monitor electrical loads and optimize power distribution efficiency across the facility.2. Maintenance Strategy & ReliabilityDevelop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for electrical systems and equipment.Analyze electrical failures and perform root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrence.Lead troubleshooting of complex electrical issues affecting production or utilities.Ensure timely completion of corrective maintenance to minimize downtime.3. Compliance, Safety & GMPEnsure all electrical activities comply with GMP requirements, safety regulations, and company procedures.Implement and enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities.Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, electrical drawings, and system modifications.Support internal and external audits (Quality, Safety, Regulatory Authorities).4. Projects & Engineering DevelopmentLead electrical engineering activities in new equipment installation, facility expansions, and upgrade projects.Review and approve electrical design drawings, technical specifications, and contractor work.Coordinate with production, quality, and validation teams during commissioning and qualification phases.Ensure proper integration of electrical systems with Building Management Systems (BMS) and automation systems.5. Energy Management & OptimizationMonitor plant energy consumption and develop initiatives to improve energy efficiency and reduce operational costs.Implement energy-saving solutions in electrical infrastructure and utilities.Support sustainability and energy management programs within the organization.6. Team Leadership & DevelopmentSupervise and guide electrical technicians and contractors.Provide technical coaching and training to maintenance staff.Ensure adherence to maintenance procedures and safety standards. EducationBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Power Engineering or Electrical Engineering.Experience4–6 years of experience in electrical engineering within industrial environments.Minimum 3 years in pharmaceutical, food, or regulated manufacturing industries preferred.Experience in electrical power distribution, generators, UPS systems, and industrial automation.Technical SkillsStrong knowledge of Medium Voltage and Low Voltage electrical systems.Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams.Knowledge of GMP requirements related to engineering and utilities.Experience with BMS, SCADA, or PLC-based control systems is an advantage.Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS).
