Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially aware Senior GL Accountant to manage the general ledger, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain tight control over media buying, production costs, and project-based accounting.This is a hands-on role with strong exposure to operations, account management, and media teams. The ideal candidate understands how agency revenue works, how campaigns run, and how costs should be matched to protect margins.Previous experience within a marketing, advertising, or media agency is essential.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Ledger & ClosingOwn monthly, quarterly, and annual closing cycles.Prepare journal entries, accruals, deferrals, and reclassifications.Perform GL reconciliations (bank, AR, AP, prepaid, accruals).Ensure compliance with IFRS / local GAAP and company policies.Revenue Recognition & Client BillingApply proper revenue recognition for retainers, media buying, and production projects.Distinguish agency revenue from pass-through media costs.Recognize revenue based on milestones and performance obligations.Review invoices for accuracy, margins, and contract alignment.Media Buying & Cost ControlTrack and reconcile media spend across digital and offline platforms (Google, Meta, TikTok, TV, outdoor, influencers, etc.).Accrue unbilled media and production costs.Match supplier invoices with approvals and delivery reports.Monitor campaign profitability and flag overruns early.Project & Production AccountingMaintain job and project costing for creative and production work.Track WIP, deferred costs, and overall project margins.Ensure costs are allocated to the correct client and accounting period.Support post-campaign financial reviews.Accruals, Prepayments & Cut-OffPrepare accurate month-end accruals.Manage prepayments for contracts and software tools.Maintain strict cut-off discipline.Tax & ComplianceSupport VAT treatment for media and cross-border services.Maintain documentation for audit purposes.Assist internal and external auditors.Systems & Reporting Work within ERP systems such as Odoo or Daftra. Maintain a clean and logical chart of accounts.Prepare management reports on client profitability, campaign margins, and budget utilization.Cross-Functional CollaborationPartner with Account Managers, Media Buyers, Production, and Sales.Translate operational activity into accurate financial data.Promote cost discipline across non-finance teams.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. 3-5 years of experience, including solid experience within a marketing, advertising, or media agency.
