To perform testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical support activities for electrical equipment in medium-and high-voltage substations. The engineer will ensure that all testing work complies with technical standards, project specifications, and safety requirements.Key Responsibilities1. Testing & CommissioningPerform testing and commissioning for MV/HV substation equipment including:Power TransformersSwitchgear (MVSG/GIS/AIS)Protection RelaysCircuit Breakers, CTs, VTsCables (Insulation & Hi-Pot tests& VLF)Execute functional, primary, and secondary injection testing.All commissioning activities (Schematic reading mandatory). Conduct protection relay configuration and setting verification (Siemens, ABB, Schneider, NR, GE, etc.).Test and validate control, and communication systems.2. Site ActivitiesPrepare daily progress reports and test sheets.Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and clients during testing activities.Support troubleshooting of equipment failures and abnormal readings.Ensure testing equipment is calibrated and maintained.3. Technical DocumentationPrepare test reports, commissioning reports, and punch lists.Ensure compliance with IEC standards and project specifications.4. Safety & QualityFollow company HSE policies and site safety rules.Ensure all testing activities are executed safely and accurately.Participate in quality audits and corrective actions when required. Job RequirementsBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.Minimum 3–5 years of experience in testing and commissioning of MV/HV substations.Strong knowledge of substation equipment, including:Power TransformersMV/HV Switchgear (AIS & GIS)Protection RelaysCircuit BreakersCTs and VTsPower and Control CablesHands-on experience in:Primary Injection TestingSecondary Injection TestingFunctional TestingProtection Relay Testing and CommissioningCable Testing (Insulation Resistance, Hi-Pot, VLF)Experience with protection relay configuration, testing, and setting verification for Siemens, ABB, Schneider Electric, GE, NR Electric, and other major manufacturers.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, protection drawings, and single-line diagrams.Familiarity with IEC standards and utility commissioning requirements.Experience using testing equipment such as Omicron, Megger, CPC, CT Analyzer, VLF, and Hi-Pot test sets.Knowledge of SCADA, RTU, control systems, and communication protocols such as IEC 61850, Modbus, and DNP3.Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.Ability to prepare technical reports, commissioning reports, test sheets, and punch lists.Good communication and coordination skills with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams.Strong commitment to HSE regulations and quality standards.Willingness to travel and work on project sites as required.
