📢Freelancing opportunity – Backup Engineer (Commvault Specialist) – 2‑year contract🚀 - Remote - EgyptRole OverviewWe are looking for a highly skilled Backup & Infrastructure Engineer with deep expertise in Commvault technologies and strong experience operating in complex, multinational environments. The ideal candidate combines technical excellence with solid communication skills, teamwork and the ability to manage and optimize large-scale backup infrastructures across hybrid environments.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement and maintain enterprise backup solutions using Commvault technologies.Manage and optimize CommServe, Media Agents, Indexing and DDB operations.Configure and support IntelliSnap, Livesync, Auxiliary Copies and data retention policies.Lead or support CommCell migrations, Hyperscale (HSX) deployments and Command Center–based operations.Ensure reliable backup and recovery for virtualized, cloud and on‑premises workloads.Collaborate with global teams across multiple time zones and cultural environments.Troubleshoot complex issues across storage, networking, operating systems, and backup layers.Maintain and improve monitoring and service management processes using ServiceNow, APEX AIOps and CheckMk.Develop automation scripts using Python, PowerShell or GitLab CI to streamline operational tasks.Adhere to ITIL-based processes for incident, change, and problem management.Required Skills & ExperienceCritical (Importance Level 3)Strong management and communication skills with English proficiency at B2 level or higher;Expert-level knowledge of Commvault Backup Infrastructure, including:CommServe, Media Agents, Indexing, DDB;IntelliSnap, Livesync, Auxiliary Copies;Data Aging & Retention policies;CommCell configuration, migration, and HSX implementations;Command Center operations.Important (Importance Level 2)Experience working in multi-national environments and with remote teams;Storage & Databases:SAN/NAS, object storage;SQL, Oracle, SAP HANA, Exchange/M365 agents.Virtualization & Cloud:VMware, Hyper‑V;AWS, Azure, GCP backup workloads.Operating Systems:Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu);Windows Server.Networking:TCP/IP, routing, firewalls;Troubleshooting throughput and connectivity issues.Service Management:ServiceNow, APEX AIOps, CheckMk.Scripting & Automation:Python, PowerShell, GitLab pipelines.Preferred QualificationsITIL Foundation certification.Experience with large-scale enterprise backup transformations.Familiarity with REST APIs for automation and integration.
