Job PurposeThe Manager leads a specialized team responsible for the day-to-day execution of regulatory compliance controls and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) activities.This role focuses on team performance, quality assurance, workflow allocation, and staff development—ensuring that the bank meets its AML/KYC obligations efficiently and accurately. The Manager acts as the primary escalation point for complex cases and collaborates with other departments (Business lines, Legal, Internal Audit) to operationalize compliance requirements.The role involves assisting the Regulatory & CDD AVP manager in policy development, risk assessment, digital projects and stakeholder engagement to mitigate financial crime risks.Key Responsibility Areas1. Team Leadership & Performance Management- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Compliance Officers / CDD Specialists handling Regulatory affairs, onboarding and periodic reviews.- Assign daily workloads and monitor team productivity.- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance appraisals, and training needs assessments.- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.2. Operational Oversight of CDD & Compliance Processes- Supervise end-to-end CDD operations: client risk assessment, document verification, beneficial ownership identification, and sanctions/PEP screening.- Ensure timely completion of periodic KYC reviews and event-driven reviews (change in ownership, high-risk activity).- Review and approve high-risk cases (EDD) escalated by team members that require higher level approval/advice.3. Operational Oversight of Regulatory Compliance Processes- Supervise end-to-end Regulatory compliance operations: Regulatory reports, communications with the regulator, driven business digital projects, marketing material and regulatory compliance presentation to the management meetings/steercos.- Ensure timely update of the internal regulatory obligation tracker and follow up with the relevant stakeholders to ensure fully compliance.- Ensure timely regulatory reports in addition to HO reports.- Manage the new digital projects driven by the different business lines from regulatory compliance and CDD perspective.- Assess the new products/services from regulatory compliance and CDD perspective.4. Quality Assurance (QA) & Risk Control- Perform random and targeted quality checks on team members' work to ensure compliance with internal policies/procedures/addendums and regulatory standards.- Identify recurring regulatory compliance observations and implement corrective action plans.- Maintain team-level Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for reporting to senior management.5. Process Improvement & System Optimization- Identify bottlenecks in CDD workflows (e.g., manual data entry, slow screening tools) and propose automation or process changes.- Act as the team’s subject matter expert during business digital projects or system upgrades/enhancements (e.g., core banking, screening software, case management systems).- Document and update team procedures and job aids to reflect regulatory changes.6. Escalation & Cross-Functional Collaboration- Serve as the internal first-level escalation point for relationship managers, business lines, legal, or operations on complex CDD matters (e.g., non-cooperative clients, complex ownership structures) to the Regulatory & CDD AVP Compliance Manager.- Liaise with Internal Audit and external regulators during inspections, providing team-generated evidence and responses.- Represent the team in the periodic/adhoc committees, meetings or working groups.7. Record Keeping- All records of the unit must be kept in a confidential and secure state- Adhere to record retention policy and the SOP guidelinesOperating Environment, Framework and Boundaries, Working Relationships- Effective knowledge of the Central Bank of Egypt regulations and instructions.- Effective knowledge of the Bank’s Compliance, Sanctions, AML and KYC / CDD policies and procedures.- Deep understanding of correspondent banking, private banking, Large Corporate, and SME compliance.- Effective communication skills with other stakeholders from CBE or other internal business/operations/control functions.- Strong Knowledge of Local CDD regulations and standards.- Good understanding of core banking and Compliance systems and their interaction/use.Knowledge, Skills and Experience10+ years’ experience within banking, financial services, or fintech.5+ years in KYC/AML Operations or compliance within banking, financial services, or fintech.Leadership: ability to motivate a team performing repetitive, high-pressure work.Conflict resolution: handling disagreements between compliance analysts and other stakeholders.Communication: explaining regulatory requirements clearly to non-specialists.Organizational: managing multiple deadlines and shifting priorities.
