Expert in Siemens Legacy Systems (COBOL / System Calls)

Job Description:We are seeking a highly experienced specialist to support, maintain, and analyze legacy Siemens systems developed using COBOL The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of older Siemens platforms and the ability to understand, troubleshoot, and modernize or document legacy codebases.This role is critical for ensuring the stability, continuity, and possible migration of long-running systems that remain essential to our operations.Key Responsibilities:· Analyze, maintain, and troubleshoot legacy Siemens systems written in COBOL· Work with obsolete or deprecated system calls and interfaces· Debug and resolve complex issues in legacy environments· Document existing system architecture, workflows, and code logic· Support system upgrades, migrations, or integration with modern platforms· Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to ensure business continuity· Provide expert guidance on risks, limitations, and modernization strategiesRequired Qualifications:· Strong hands-on experience with COBOL programming· Proven expertise in legacy / obsolete Siemens systems· Deep understanding of low-level system calls and legacy operating environments· Experience maintaining long-running or mission-critical systems· Ability to read, understand, and refactor poorly documented legacy code· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills· Excellent documentation and communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:· Experience with system migration or modernization projects· Familiarity with industrial, manufacturing, or enterprise legacy systems· Knowledge of mainframe or proprietary Siemens platforms· Experience working with minimal or outdated documentationLocation:· On-site / Hybrid (depending on project requirements) (Project in Libya)
