Gamma International College is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of English Department to lead the English faculty and ensure high-quality teaching and learning aligned with the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy and curriculum standards.The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing curriculum implementation, supporting teachers’ professional development, improving student achievement, and fostering a collaborative and engaging learning environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the English Department effectively to ensure high academic standards.Supervise the planning, delivery, and assessment of the English curriculum across all grade levels.Ensure alignment with IB standards, practices, and inquiry-based learning approaches.Monitor students’ academic progress and implement improvement plans where necessary.Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers.Support, mentor, and evaluate English teachers professionally.Coordinate curriculum planning, assessments, and departmental initiatives.Develop strategies to enhance students’ literacy, communication, and critical thinking skills.Organize departmental meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.Collaborate with coordinators and school leadership on academic planning and school improvement initiatives.Maintain effective communication with parents regarding academic matters and student performance.Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations of department staff.Support school events, extracurricular activities, and academic programs. Bachelor’s Degree in English, Education, or a related field.Master’s Degree is preferred.Minimum of 5–7 years of teaching experience, including leadership experience within an international school.Previous IB experience is highly preferred.Strong knowledge of English curriculum planning, assessment, and instructional strategies.Excellent leadership, mentoring, and team management skills.Strong understanding of inquiry-based and student-centered learning approaches.Excellent command of English language (spoken and written).Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work collaboratively within a multicultural environment.Experience in teacher evaluation, coaching, and professional development.Proficiency in educational technology and learning management systems.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
