Hams Cool values safety, clear communication, and long-term relationships with both customers and employees.Role Description The Heating Air Conditioning Service Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Alexandria. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining residential and light commercial HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and related equipment. Daily tasks include performing scheduled preventive maintenance, responding to service calls, troubleshooting system issues, and completing high-quality repairs in a timely manner. The technician will communicate clearly with customers about findings, explain recommended services, provide estimates when needed, and ensure customer satisfaction at the completion of each job. Additional responsibilities include accurately documenting work performed, maintaining tools and service vehicles, following safety standards and local codes, and collaborating with dispatch and office staff to manage the daily schedule.QualificationsStrong troubleshooting skills for HVAC systems, including diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and airflow issues.Experience with maintenance & repair of heating and cooling equipment, including performing safe and efficient system start-ups and shut-downs.Ability to perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as filter changes, coil cleaning, and system performance checks.Commitment to customer satisfaction, including professional communication, timely follow-up, and respectful in-home or on-site behavior.Current EPA certification (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe) for handling refrigerants in compliance with regulations.Knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles related to HVAC systems.High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an HVAC trade program or apprenticeship is preferred.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to travel locally to customer sites in Alexandria and surrounding areas.Ability to lift and move equipment, work in confined spaces or at heights, and perform tasks in varying weather conditions.Strong time management skills and ability to work independently while following company procedures and safety guidelines.
