Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance Management:Plan and implement preventive and routine maintenance schedules for all fleet vehicles and machinery.Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic (air brake) system failures promptly and accurately.Oversee comprehensive inspections and overhauls of heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions, and brake systems.On-Site Supervision & Quality Control:Lead, task, and guide the workshop team of technicians and mechanics, ensuring high-quality workmanship.Test-drive and evaluate trucks and equipment post-repair to verify functionality before releasing them to drivers.Supervise major engine overhauls and ensure required replacement parts are properly specified.Inventory & Cost Control:Identify workshop needs for spare parts and equipment, raising purchase requests in coordination with procurement.Evaluate vendor quality and genuine parts to prevent counter-fit components from affecting fleet performance.Monitor fuel/oil consumption rates and maintenance expenditures to reduce waste and lower total cost of ownership.Safety & Reporting:Enforce strict Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines within the workshop during repair operations.Prepare daily/monthly reports covering fleet availability, breakdown statistics, repair costs, and downtime metrics. Key Competencies & Soft SkillsTroubleshooting: Strong analytical skills to perform root-cause analysis on recurring mechanical failures.Leadership & Communication: Ability to manage mechanics, communicate effectively with drivers, and collaborate with operation managers.Resilience: Ability to handle emergency roadside breakdowns and work efficiently under tight operational deadlines. Qualifications & RequirementsEducation: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Automotive, Power, or Mechatronics Engineering).Experience: 3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience maintaining heavy-duty vehicles/trucks (e.g., Mercedes-Benz Actros, Volvo, Scania, CAT).Technical Knowledge:In-depth understanding of modern heavy-duty diesel engines and electronic engine management.Proficiency in hydraulic circuitry, pneumatic systems (air brakes), and transmission power-trains.Hands-on expertise using computer diagnostic equipment (e.g., Jaltest, Texa, OEM diagnostic tools).
