As part of our growing presence across the Middle East and North Africa, we are establishing a dedicated legal function to support our North Africa markets.Based in Cairo, the Legal Counsel will serve as the primary on-the-ground legal resource for Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. You will work closely with the regional (UAE) and global legal affairs (China), ensuring that all business activities in North Africa are legally sound, compliant, and commercially effective.Strong command of both French and Arabic is essential, given the civil-law, bilingual legal environments of Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia, combined with Egypt's Arabic-speaking jurisdiction.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESCommercial & ContractsDraft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts for the distribution, supply, and deployment of video surveillance products and solutions.Advise business teams on contractual risks, obligations, and dispute resolution mechanisms in both common-law and civil-law contexts.Manage contract lifecycle, including renewals, amendments, and terminations.Corporate Governance & Entity ManagementSupport corporate housekeeping and governance requirements.Maintain legal records, corporate registrations, and statutory filings.Conduct legal research on regulatory changes impacting business operations in the region.ComplianceImplement and monitor compliance programmes covering anti-bribery and anti-corruption (FCPA/UK Bribery Act principles), data privacy and security (including any applicable local data protection laws), competition law, labour regulations, and product compliance.Provide practical compliance guidance to various team.Design and deliver legal and compliance training for the regional workforce.Disputes & LitigationManage commercial disputes, litigation, and arbitration proceedings, instructing and supervising local external counsel where required.Prepare litigation strategies and keep management informed on case progress and risk exposure.Business PartneringAct as a trusted legal advisor to various team and stakeholders.Support business development and project execution by identifying and mitigating legal risks at an early stage.Liaise with Regional and Global Legal Affairs dept. to ensure consistent legal standards and reporting.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCELaw degree (LLB or LLM) from a recognised law school; admission to practice law in Egypt or another MENA jurisdiction is highly desirable.Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in corporate/ commercial law, including time at a reputable law firm.Proven experience drafting and negotiating commercial distribution, supply, and project agreements.Direct experience supporting a technology, electronics, or industrial business- particularly in project-based environments.Experience working across multiple jurisdictions, with an understanding of civil-law systems (particularly Francophone North African jurisdictions).Fluent written and spoken Arabic and French; professional-level English is essential.
