1. Teaching & Learning Support (Information Literacy)Research Skills Delivery: Design and deliver structured lessons on research methodologies, media literacy, and digital citizenship to Key Stage 3 through Key Stage 5.Academic Integrity Guidance: Teach ethical research practices, academic honesty, and the proper use of citation styles (e.g., MLA, APA). Guide students on the responsible use of AI tools in research.Exam & Project Support: Provide specialized research workshops and one-on-one tracking for upper secondary students tackling independent research projects, such as the IB Extended Essay (EE) or the Cambridge International Project Qualification (IPQ).Curriculum Collaboration: Partner with Heads of Department and classroom teachers to co-plan resource boxes and digital reading lists that directly support current curriculum units.2. Reading Advocacy & Literacy CulturePromote Reading for Pleasure: Curate age-appropriate fiction and non-fiction collections that appeal to a highly diverse, multicultural student body, including dedicated resources for English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners.Events & Initiatives: Lead and organize high-impact whole-school literacy events, including Book Week, author visits, book clubs, and reading challenges.Reader’s Advisory: Provide personalized book recommendations to students to stimulate broad reading habits.3. Library Management & Collection DevelopmentResource Procurement: Strategically manage the library budget to purchase up-to-date print books, periodicals, e-books, and digital academic databases (e.g., JSTOR, EBSCO, Britannica School).Cataloguing & Systems: Oversee the Library Management System (e.g., Destiny) to ensure accurate cataloguing, classification, and tracking of all materials.Collection Upkeep: Conduct regular inventory checks, weeding (removing outdated or damaged materials), and data analysis on library usage to guide future spending.Supervision: Lead and manage the Library Assistant team, delegating day-to-day administrative tasks like shelving and circulation desk operations.4. Environment & Community EngagementCreate a Positive Hub: Maintain a welcoming, safe, and flexible physical space suitable for both quiet independent study and collaborative group work.Communication: Promote library updates, new arrivals, and academic resources through regular newsletters or portal updates to parents, students, and faculty. Outstanding written and spoken communication skills in English.Strong behavior management skills to maintain a productive, respectful study environment.A passion for youth literature and global cultural trends.Excellent organizational skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure during peak research periods.
