Economic success and corporate responsibility are inextricably linked.Symrise - always inspiring more…About the roleThe Shift Production Engineer provides qualified on-shift technical supervision across the Powder and Liquid Flavor Compounding operations, ensuring operational continuity and strengthening workforce capability and production resilience.The role supports improved shift-level decision making, reduces off-hours escalation dependency, ensures continuity during absences, and promotes a sustainable leadership workload - while enhancing safety, quality and operational responsiveness.Key responsibilitiesProduction executionExecute the daily production plan across powder and liquid compounding lines, ensuring schedule adherence and efficient use of resources.Lead structured shift handovers and align the team with short- and mid-term production priorities.Act as the primary escalation point for operational deviations during assigned shifts.Safety, quality & complianceControl shop-floor execution of safety, quality, GMP and compliance requirements.Ensure adherence to food safety standards (HACCP / FSSC 22000) and allergen handling rules.Verify correct execution of batch records and in-process checks; escalate non-conformances per site procedure.Operational performanceDeliver cost-efficient output and drive shift-level performance on OEE, yield and first-time-right.Identify and resolve operational deviations in real time and support continuous improvement initiatives.People & coverageCoach and develop operators and technicians through on-shift guidance and promotion of best practices.If and when needed, provide cover during night shifts, weekends and absence of the Production Section Head.About youBachelor's degree in Engineering (Production, Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical) or a related field.Solid experience in a production or manufacturing environment with technical complexity; flavors, food, fragrance or fine chemicals is an advantage.Experience working with production KPIs, safety, quality and cost control.Working knowledge of GMP and food safety standards (HACCP / FSSC 22000) is a plus.Strong ability to analyze and resolve operational deviations in real time.Leadership mindset with the ability to guide, coach and influence teams on the shop floor.Structured, resilient and capable of working in a high-responsibility shift environment.Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with Quality, Maintenance, Planning and Warehouse.Fluent in English and Arabic.Our offerAt Symrise, you will have the opportunity to grow professionally and enjoy inspiring experiences that contribute to the well‑being of millions of people across more than 160 countries.People are at the center of everything we do.
