Role OverviewThe Sustainability Specialist is a country-based technical and commercial delivery role focused exclusively on Bureau Veritas’ Certification (CER) sustainability service line. Two positions are open: one in Egypt (Cairo) and one in Qatar (Doha), each embedded within their respective market.Reporting to the local head of CER product line and functionally to the MCA Director of Sustainability, the Specialist will be the primary CER sustainability presence in-country: delivering client advisory mandates, leading proposal development, building the local CER pipeline and supporting BV’s brand in sustainability circles. This position is client-facing and carries direct delivery responsibility across carbon advisory, ESG reporting, assurance and related CER services.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Delivery & AdvisoryLead and deliver sustainability advisory mandates in-country across core CER focus areas:Carbon accounting, GHG baseline assessments and Scope 1/2/3 inventories (ISO 14064 / GHG Protocol)Organisational and product carbon footprint calculations and decarbonisation roadmapsESG strategy development, materiality assessments and CDP/SBTi alignmentSustainability report assurance under ISAE 3000 / ISSA 5000CBAM exposure assessments and supply chain ESG due diligenceIFRS S2 readiness assessments and climate-related financial disclosure supportEcoVadis score improvement programmes and ESG rating advisoryConduct GHG verification audits and CER certification assessments in accordance with BV methodology and applicable international standardsPrepare high-quality technical deliverables: verification reports, advisory frameworks, gap analyses, decarbonisation plans and client presentationsCoordinate with the MCA regional team and Egypt Technical Hub for peer review, QA/QC and technical sign-off on complex mandatesStay current with regulatory developments relevant to in-country clients: local ESG disclosure requirements, CBAM updates, ISSB/IFRS S2 implementation timelinesBusiness Development & ProposalsLead or co-lead the preparation of CER sustainability proposals, RFP responses and commercial offers for clients in Egypt / QatarIdentify and qualify new CER business opportunities in-country, building a local pipeline across carbon advisory, ESG reporting, assurance, social audits and supply chain servicesSupport regional BD campaigns including CBAM advisory, sustainability assurance, IFRS S2 readiness and GHG verification drivesPrepare and deliver tailored client presentations, pitches and capability documents for local market audiencesParticipate in bid/no-bid decisions with the regional Director and maintain accurate, real-time pipeline records in SalesforceDevelop in-country relationships with potential referral sources: law firms, financial advisors, sustainability consultancies and industry associationsClient & Stakeholder ManagementServe as the primary BV point of contact for CER sustainability clients in-country — managing the full relationship from proposal through delivery, reporting and invoicingLiaise with local regulatory bodies, stock exchanges, accreditation authorities and relevant government entities on CER mattersRepresent Bureau Veritas at local sustainability events, ESG forums, carbon market conferences and industry roundtablesManage repeat business opportunities, client satisfaction and contract renewals within the CER portfolioOperational & ReportingMaintain accurate Salesforce records for all in-country CER opportunities: pipeline values, stages, submission dates and win/loss outcomesPrepare monthly country performance reports and pipeline inputs for MCA Director and area leadershipEnsure all CER mandates comply with BV quality standards, methodology requirements and relevant accreditation obligationsContribute country-specific content to the MCA proposal library: case studies, client references, CVs and service descriptionsParticipate in monthly MCA thematic training sessions and contribute to the quarterly regional sustainability newsletterRequirementsEssential4–6 years of experience in sustainability consulting, ESG advisory, GHG verification or CER-related services in Egypt, Qatar or the broader MENA regionSolid technical command of core CER sustainability disciplines:GHG accounting and verification: ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, Scope 1/2/3 inventoriesCarbon footprint methodologies and net-zero/decarbonisation advisoryESG reporting frameworks: GRI, ISSB/IFRS S2, ESRS, CDP, TCFDSustainability assurance standards: ISAE 3000, ISSA 5000CBAM and cross-border carbon due diligenceSupply chain ESG mapping and third-party risk (C97)Excellent written English — ability to produce clear, professional technical reports, advisory deliverables and commercial proposals independentlyClient-facing experience: ability to manage relationships, lead discovery meetings and present findings to senior stakeholdersBachelor’s degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, business or a related fieldPreferredProfessional certification: GHG Verifier, ISO 14064 Lead Auditor, GRI Certified Practitioner, CDP-accredited advisor, or equivalentKnowledge of local market regulatory context:Egypt: FRA sustainability disclosure requirements, Egyptian Exchange ESG guidelines, national GHG registry developmentsQatar: QSE ESG reporting requirements, National Vision 2030 sustainability pillars, QFC regulatory environmentArabic language proficiency — strongly preferred for both roles given client and regulatory engagementExperience with Salesforce or equivalent CRM tools for pipeline managementFamiliarity with EcoVadis, MSCI ESG, S&P Global, or other ESG ratings platformsKnowledge of social auditing principles (SMETA, SA8000) as an additional CER service area
