Accounting ClerkJob DescriptionWe currently have a position available for an Accounting Clerk in our Accounting Department. Reporting to the Billing Manager, the successful candidate will be a driven, positive and customer focused individual. This role is an excellent opportunity to be part of a collaborative, fast-paced environment where your communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to service excellence will have a direct impact on both internal and external customers.What You’ll DoAnswer phone calls from customers, brokers and other departments to address a variety of billing mattersTimely processing of accounts receivable, including verification and posting of payments and refunds and ensuring they are recorded correctlyPerform monthly broker account reconciliations ensuring timely and effective follow ups for overdue payments and transaction discrepanciesInvestigate and resolve discrepancies and other billing issues for internal and external customersComplete system activities within deadlinesLiaise with Underwriters regarding receipt of payments ensuring policies are amended as neededCommunicate with Underwrites on policies in arrears and brokers with outstanding receivablesDeliver exceptional customer service in upholding our service standards and our commitment to continuous improvementOther duties as requiredWhat You’ll BringHigh school diploma is required, relevant post-secondary education is an asset5+ years experience in Accounts Receivable with experience handling high volume of customer callsDemonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customersClear and concise supportive communication and interpersonal skillsAnalyze and resolve customer concerns (problem solving skills)Exceptional attention to detail including a high degree of numerical accuracyAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced settingIntermediate skills in Microsoft excel (proficiency with Lookups and Pivot Tables) with the ability to learn new computing software quicklyAbility to work independently as well as collaboratively within a diverse teamProfessional, efficient, and proactive with time-management and organizational skillsFlexible and adaptable; able to work in an environment of shifting priorities and pressuresExperience in the insurance industry and Guidewire would be an assetAttendance and punctuality are imperativeWhat You'll ExperienceCompetitive base pay with annual bonus eligibilityHealthy work-life balance including a day off every 4 weeksMatching contributions to your Registered Pension PlanPersonal insurance reimbursementSocial events held throughout the yearCelebration of your team’s achievements each year with an annual staff appreciation eventA career in a stable and essential industry, at a company with an exceptional corporate culture and opportunities for professional development and advancementWhy Peace HillsPeace Hills General Insurance Company has been serving Western Canada since 1982 with home, auto and business insurance products.
