APPLICATION EENGINEER – STATIC EQUIPMENT (VALVES)

Purpose of Job To provide technical ownership between application, design, and manufacturing for valve components during reverse engineering activities. Ensure correct understanding of valve operation, performance requirements, failure modes, and manufacturability when reviewing drawings, obsolete parts, and scanned files. Support the design team with application knowledge and guide suppliers technically from RFQ stage through manufacturing and quality verification. Main Responsibilities Review valve components and assemblies from an application and functional perspective before design release. Support reverse engineering activities by providing valve operation, maintenance, and failure mode insights. Review 2D drawings and GD&T to ensure functionality and manufacturability of valve parts. Provide manufacturability input related to machining, casting, and material selection. Coordinate technically with suppliers during RFQ, production, and inspection stages. Assist design engineers in defining tolerances based on fitment and valve performance requirements. Evaluate obsolete or problematic parts and guide proper redesign approaches. Support quality team during inspection and validation of machined/cast valve components. Work closely with Design, Procurement, and Quality teams to ensure correct technical decisions. Participate in supplier discussions to clarify technical requirements and avoid manufacturing errors. Scope of Authority Work closely with Design, Procurement, Quality, and Supplier teams. Provide technical approval and guidance on valve-related components before manufacturing release. Accountabilities Strict adherence to the Company’s HSEQ Standards Strict adherence to the Company’s Data Security Standards Operate strictly within the Company ISO Framework Ensure correct technical interpretation of valve components before manufacturing Ensure GD&T and drawings reflect functional valve requirements Qualifications and Skills Required Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. 5–10 years of experience in valves, static equipment, maintenance, or application engineering. Strong understanding of valve types (gate, globe, ball, check, control valves) and their operating principles. Practical experience in valve operation, maintenance, and common failure modes in industrial service. Strong ability to interpret and review engineering drawings, P&IDs, and GD&T. Experience in reverse engineering of mechanical components and working with scanned files (STL / mesh data). Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and design review. Familiarity with Geomagic Design X for reverse engineering applications. Good understanding of machining, casting, fabrication, and sealing surfaces in valve components. Knowledge of materials used in valves and pressure-containing parts, including corrosion and wear behaviour. Familiarity with API standards related to valves, including: API 600 – Steel Gate Valves API 602 – Compact Steel Gate Valves API 608 – Metal Ball Valves API 598 – Valve Inspection and Testing API 6D – Pipeline Valves API 6A – Wellhead and Christmas Tree Equipment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify design or field failure causes. Ability to work in fast-paced engineering environments with suppliers and manufacturing teams. Strong communication skills for technical coordination with suppliers, design, and quality teams. Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling multiple technical tasks simultaneously.
