Company DescriptionSahahly is an independent team of teaching assistants that collaborates with British IGCSE schools and teachers to support the examination process. The organization focuses on enhancing academic quality by providing structured assistance and reliable academic support. In addition, Sahahly helps students explore potential career paths by offering internships across a wide range of fields, giving them exposure that helps them make more informed decisions about their future studies and careers. The team values innovation, student success, and practical learning experiences.Role DescriptionThis is a part-time Artificial Intelligence Specialist role based in New Cairo with a hybrid arrangement, combining on-site collaboration with the flexibility to work from home. You will design, build, and refine AI-powered tools that support examination workflows, automated grading, academic assistance, and student guidance.A core part of this role is working with large language models — both commercial APIs (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini) and open-source models (such as Llama, Mistral, Qwen, or DeepSeek) — to build reliable, cost-effective features. Day to day, this includes prompt engineering and evaluation, building and testing AI pipelines, integrating models into existing platforms, designing evaluation frameworks to measure accuracy and consistency, and making practical trade-offs between hosted and self-hosted models on cost, latency, and quality. You will work closely with educators and the internal team to understand user needs, translate them into technical requirements, and continuously improve AI-driven features based on real feedback. The role also involves documenting solutions, staying current with the fast-moving AI landscape, and ensuring ethical, secure, and responsible use of student data.Qualifications1+ years of hands-on experience building and shipping AI/LLM features (professional, freelance, or substantial project work all count).Demonstrated experience working with both commercial LLM APIs (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) and open-source models (e.g. Llama, Mistral, Qwen, DeepSeek) — please include examples or links to past work.Strong practical skills in prompt engineering, model evaluation, and designing systems that measure and improve output accuracy and reliability.Experience integrating AI models into production applications via APIs, including handling rate limits, cost optimization, and fallback/model-agnostic design.Proficiency in Python (or a similar language) for building and maintaining AI solutions, with familiarity in working with model SDKs and orchestration tools.Solid foundation in Computer Science and applied Machine Learning concepts, including data preprocessing, evaluation, and deployment.Familiarity with techniques such as RAG (retrieval-augmented generation), fine-tuning, or structured output generation is a strong plus.Experience with common ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, scikit-learn) is beneficial but secondary to applied LLM experience.Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including educators.Bachelor's degree (or ongoing studies) in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related field — or equivalent demonstrable practical experience.Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid setting, manage time effectively in a part-time role, and adapt to a student-focused, education-centric context.
