OverviewThe Intermediate Automation Engineer (Instrumentation & Control) is responsible for supporting the design and engineering of automation systems in Oil & Gas projects. Working under the direction of the Automation Project Discipline Lead, the role ensures high-quality engineering deliverables, technical compliance, and effective coordination across disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.Your roleReview and guide 2D and 3D CADD design and drafting to ensure quality and complianceDevelop and check Instrument Loop Diagrams, control panel/cabinet designs, and wiring drawingsParticipate in design reviews and HAZOP analysesPrepare and verify installation details, instrument layouts, and Fire & Gas detection plansPerform detailed instrumentation engineering including: Instrument selection and specification, Inline equipment sizing calculationsDevelop and maintain instrumentation deliverables using SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), including: Instrument Index, I/O Lists and Assignments, Equipment Lists, Alarm Rationalization ListsPrepare and review P&IDs and instrument datasheetsReview project documentation for technical accuracy and scope alignmentPrepare material requisitions and perform technical evaluations of vendor bidsDevelop control narratives and Cause & Effect diagramsSupport engineering estimation activitiesReview and approve vendor documentation and technical submittalsInterface with mechanical equipment packages related to automation scopeProvide technical support to site teams during construction and commissioning phasesCoordinate with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholdersManage assigned tasks, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and project objectivesAbout YouBachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field5–7 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering within the Oil & Gas industryStrong experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI)Proficiency in 2D/3D design and drafting toolsGood understanding of international standards and codes (API, ASME, CSA, ISA)Knowledge of safety regulations relevant to oil and gas operationsProven ability to deliver projects successfullyStrong organizational and problem-solving skillsSite experience in construction or commissioning is an advantageProfessional certification or eligibility (e.g., P.Eng, or equivalent) is a plusRewards & benefitsExplore the rewards and benefits that help you thrive – at every stage of your life and your career.This IncludesComprehensive life insurance coverage Medical insurance for you and your dependents Annual leave balance in accordance with local labour law Flexible and hybrid work solutions Opportunity for local and global internal transfers Company gratuity scheme Discretionary bonus program Employee Wellbeing Program: 24/7 access to specialists in finance, legal matters, family care, personal health, fitness, and nutrition Seize every opportunity to sharpen your skills, expand your expertise, and be recognized for the impact you make.About AtkinsRéalisWe're AtkinsRéalis, a world-class engineering services and nuclear organization.
