The Cigar Sommelier will curate and manage the cigar selection, ensuring proper storage, humidification, and presentation of premium cigars. Daily tasks include advising guests on cigar choices, pairing cigars with suitable beverages, and explaining flavor profiles and origins to enhance the guest experience. The role involves coordinating with the food and beverage team, supporting sales initiatives, maintaining inventory and stock levels, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The Cigar Sommelier will also conduct tastings, provide education to guests and colleagues, and uphold Rixos brand standards in all guest interactions.QualificationsCigar expertise and sommelier-related skills, with strong knowledge of cigar varieties, origins, flavor profiles, and proper storage practices.Food & Beverage experience, including familiarity with luxury hospitality service standards and bar or lounge operations.Wine pairing and wine sales skills, with the ability to recommend complementary wines and beverages to accompany cigars.Excellent communication skills, including clear guest-facing communication, active listening, and the ability to convey product knowledge in an engaging way.Previous experience in high-end hotels, resorts, or luxury lounges, preferably in a sommelier, cigar specialist, or related F&B role.Strong customer service orientation, attention to detail, and a commitment to creating memorable guest experiences.Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in a fast-paced resort environment.Professional appearance and demeanor, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team.Relevant certification in hospitality, sommelier training, or beverage service is an advantage.Proficiency in English; additional languages are beneficial for international guest communication.
