Purpose of the Job: The Automotive Functional Safety Engineer is responsible for supporting the development and integration of safe automotive systems in compliance with functional safety and safety of intended functionality standards. The role focuses on ensuring that electrical/electronic (E/E) systems, including ADAS and ADS features, are developed according to applicable safety processes throughout the product lifecycle.Responsibilities and Duties:Perform functional safety activities according to ISO 26262 across system, hardware, and software development phases.Conduct Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA) and determine ASIL classifications.Develop Functional Safety Concepts (FSC) and Technical Safety Concepts (TSC).Derive and manage functional safety requirements and ensure bidirectional traceability.Perform safety analyses including FMEA, FMEDA, DFA, and FTA.Define and evaluate safety mechanisms for system, hardware, and software architectures.Define verification strategies for the item under analysis on different levels (SYS,SW,HW)Review and evaluate unit tests, integration tests, fault injection tests, interface tests, and system-level verification results against safety requirements.Develop and assess safety validation activities to demonstrate that the intended functionality achieves acceptable residual risk in real operational scenarios. Perform SOTIF including triggering condition identification, functional insufficiency analysis, and evaluation of performance limitations.Define and assess validation targets, acceptance criteria, and performance metrics for ADAS/ ADS.Perform AI safety activities in alignment with ISO/PAS 8800, including AI model safety assessment, dataset considerations, and safety-related performance monitoring.EducationBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field. Experience1–3 years of experience in automotive functional safety.Exposure to ADAS/ADS systems and automotive E/E architectures.Familiarity with SOTIF concepts and ISO 21448 activities is preferred.Exposure to AI/ML-based automotive systems and ISO/PAS 8800 concepts is considered an advantage.Familiarity with requirements management and safety analysis tools is preferred.Skills and AbilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skills in English are mandatory.Good understanding of automotive functional safety principles and safety engineering practices.Knowledge of ADAS/ADS technologies, perception systems, sensor fusion, and autonomous driving concepts.Understanding of SOTIF principles related to performance limitations and foreseeable misuse scenarios.Basic understanding of AI safety concepts for automotive applications, including perception model risks and dataset considerations.Ability to analyze technical systems and identify safety-related risks and mitigations.Familiarity with safety analysis techniques such as FMEA, FTA, DFA, and FMEDA.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Good communication and documentation skills.Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural teams.Strong attention to detail and process-oriented mindset.Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving automotive safety technologies and standards.Familiarity with tools such as Polarion, Confluence, Medini Analyze, or similar tools is a plus
