Uniting and working together is the key to our success.The OpportunityBoehringer Ingelheim is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Public and Government Affairs for the New Africa OPU.The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing high impact policy positions and Government Affairs programs, aimed at ensuring a favorable business environment for our OPU business. Understands the external political environment and potential governmental developments. Supports the business in developing a strong public and government affairs presence and strategy to help ensure an environment where patients have access to our medicines, now and in the future.The job holder directly reports to the General Manager/Head of Human Pharma for New Africa (Northeast & West Africa) with matrix reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs IMETA (India, Middle East, Türkiye and Africa).Job location: Cairo, Egypt.Role and Responsibilities: Monitor and analyze political, legislative, and health policy trends, anticipating their potential impact on BI's business and reputation. Provide insightful counsel for key business planning decisions. Develop and implement strategic plans to leverage or mitigate upcoming changes. Promote business objectives through thought leadership and structured advocacy. Serve as a vital liaison to Health Care Affairs, promoting the local Health Care Affairs plan with external stakeholders and identifying support opportunities. Increase the company’s visibility with policymakers. Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders to advance business goals and enhance our reputation in the life sciences sector. Lead advocacy outreach serving as the initial representative of the organization. Oversee the company’s engagement with relevant trade associations and actively participate in relevant groups. Initiate, develop, and drive the approval of all relevant documents, including letters, positioning papers, slides, etc., with agency support as needed. Represent the specified country or region within the organization’s global Government Relations network. Collaborate with the Corporate Affairs team to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in any related fieldA total of 7+ years of experience, with minimum 3 years of experience working in Public and Government Relations including a multi-national organization OR consultancy in health sector, government sectorMinimum 2 years of leadership experienceSimilar working experience within Northeast & West Africa region is a mustBusiness fluency in Arabic, English and French is a mustComprehensive knowledge of healthcare and Animal Health policiesFamiliarity with challenges and regulations in the pharmaceutical industryDemonstrated success in shaping policy environments through advocacy strategiesProficient in building influential relationships with senior stakeholders and policy makersAbility to simplify complex policy issues for internal understanding and engagementConfident public speaker, capable of presenting potentially controversial arguments to diverse audiencesExperience in managing external agencies, including budget and organizationCapable of prioritizing tasks under pressure to meet deadlinesAttention to detail and accuracy in all work aspectsSelf-motivated, capable of working independently and collaborativelyAdherence to all relevant policies and lawsWhat happens Next?We are looking forward to receiving your application!
