Position OverviewHSE Manager Job DescriptionThe Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and maintain a safe workplace for all employees, contractors, and visitors.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Development and Implementation Develops and maintains HSE policies, procedures, and programs aligned with local, state, and federal regulations. Establishes safety standards and best practices across all operational areas. Creates and updates emergency response plans and ensures readiness for various scenarios. Compliance and Risk Management Ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory requirements. Conducts regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards. Maintains all required documentation, permits, and certifications. Monitors regulatory changes and implements necessary adjustments to company practices. Training and Education Designs and delivers HSE training programs for employees at all levels. Conducts new hire safety orientations and ongoing safety awareness campaigns. Ensures all personnel receive required certifications and refresher training. Incident Investigation and Reporting Investigates workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses to determine root causes. Prepares detailed incident reports and implements corrective actions. Tracks safety metrics and prepares regular reports for management. Manages workers' compensation claims process. Continuous Improvement Analyzes safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Develops and implements initiatives to enhance safety culture. Stays current with industry best practices and emerging safety technologies. Leads safety committees and promotes employee engagement in safety programs. RequirementsEducation & Certifications:Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related fieldProfessional certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent) preferredOSHA 30-hour certification required; additional specialized certifications a plusExperience:5-7+ years of HSE experience, with at least 2-3 years in management/leadership roleProven track record developing and implementing HSE programsExperience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysisTechnical Knowledge:Expert knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and relevant federal/state/local regulationsProficiency in risk assessment methodologies and hazard identificationUnderstanding of emergency response planning and business continuityFamiliarity with workers' compensation processesSkills:Strong analytical skills for data analysis and trend identificationExcellent written and verbal communication for training and reportingLeadership ability to influence safety culture and engage employeesAudit and inspection capabilitiesProgram development and project management skillsPersonal Attributes:Detail-oriented with strong organizational skillsProactive problem-solver with continuous improvement mindsetAbility to work independently and collaboratively across all organizational levels
