Manara School is seeking to hire a part-time science lab technician for the 2026-27 school year. The science lab technician supports safe, effective, and engaging laboratory instruction by preparing materials, maintaining equipment and supplies, assisting during lab activities, and helping students follow appropriate lab procedures.Employment DetailsPart-time, up to 20 hours per weekPrimarily during the school day, with some flexibilityBegins early AugustReports to the Dean of AcademicsWorks closely with the science facultyResponsibilitiesPrepare, set up, and clean up laboratory experiments, demonstrations, and practical activities for biology, chemistry, physics, and other science courses.Assist teachers and students during laboratory activities, helping ensure safe and effective use of materials and equipment.Maintain, clean, organize, and store laboratory equipment, glassware, models, sensors, and other instructional materials.Prepare basic reagents, solutions, specimens, and lab materials as needed.Monitor inventory of chemicals, consumables, equipment, and safety supplies; coordinate orders and replacements as needed.Support procurement by organizing purchase requests, communicating with vendors, and tracking orders.Maintain accurate records related to inventory, equipment maintenance, purchases, safety documentation, and lab usage.Follow and help enforce appropriate lab safety protocols, including chemical handling, labeling, storage, and disposal procedures.Maintain Safety Data Sheets, safety equipment, spill kits, and other lab safety resources.Train, guide, and supervise student lab assistants in safe and responsible laboratory practices.Collaborate closely with science faculty and report regularly to the Dean of Academics.Qualified candidates will demonstrateBachelor’s degree in science, science education, engineering, laboratory technology, or a related field; equivalent evidence of strong scientific knowledge may also be considered.Experience working in an educational environment, such as a school or university.Familiarity with common school laboratory equipment, including microscopes, balances, glassware, sensors, basic physics apparatus, and safety equipment.Experience preparing laboratory materials for biology, chemistry, and/or physics instruction.Strong understanding of laboratory safety procedures, including safe handling, storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals and biological materials.Experience with purchasing, inventory management, vendor communication, and procurement of laboratory supplies; experience with suppliers in Egypt is preferred.Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move lab equipment or supply boxes, and safely handle chemicals, glassware, biological materials, and laboratory equipment.Ability to work successfully with high school students as a mentor, supervisor, or instructional support professional.Commitment to student safety, safeguarding, and a positive school culture.Strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail.Patience, kindness, and a collaborative work style.Fluency in English; fluency in Arabic is a plus.
