For more information, visit www.gf.comAbout The RoleWe are seeking a Senior Silicon Photonics Design Engineer to lead the design, simulation, and verification of advanced silicon photonic integrated circuits (PICs) for high-speed optical communication and computing applications. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who combines deep theoretical knowledge with strong hands-on design and tape-out experience.You will work closely with cross-functional teams including process, layout, testing, electronics, and system engineers to deliver high-performance, scalable photonic solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the architecture, design, and optimization of silicon photonic building blocks and subsystems (Tx/Rx).Design and analyze components such as modulators (MRM, MZI), photodetectors, waveguides, couplers, splitters, and heaters.Perform optical, electrical, and thermal simulations using industry-standard tools.Drive PDK evaluation, design rule compliance, and layout-aware optimization.Support chip tape-out, lab characterization, and correlation between simulation and measurement.Own design documentation, specifications, and design reviews.Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best-practice design methodologies.Collaborate with system, packaging, and test teams to ensure end-to-end performance.Required QualificationsMSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Applied Physics, or a related field.5+ years of experience in silicon photonics or integrated photonic design.Strong background in optical waveguides, modulators, photodetectors, and PIC integration.Hands-on experience with simulation tools such as Lumerical, IPKISS, Photon Design, or equivalent.Solid understanding of CMOS-compatible fabrication processes.Experience with multi-lane optical transceivers and high-speed optical links is a strong plus.Proven ability to take designs from concept through tape-out and measurements.Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.We OfferBase SalaryEquityAnnual Bonus PlanMedical InsuranceInformation about our benefits you can find here: https://gf.com/careers/opportunities-in-europe/
