Rigging Specialist Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialized mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements. The Role To ensure the safe and compliant execution of all lifting and rigging operations by providing technical expertise in rigging practices and Lifting machinery inspections (LMI) . The role supports lifting activities by verifying safe load limits, ensuring correct equipment configuration, and maintaining adherence to all safety standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Location: On-site in Marsa AlamContract Type: Permanent, full-timeSchedule: 20/10 working rosterCompensation: Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package The Key ResponsibilitiesSafe Execution of Lifting OperationsPlan, coordinate, and oversee all rigging and lifting activities on site.Ensure lifts are conducted in accordance with approved lifting plans and procedures.Verify that all lifting operations are executed safely and within equipment limits. Lift Planning and Technical SupportDevelop and review lifting plans, including complex and critical lifts.Conduct risk assessments (JSA / TRA) for all lifting operations.Provide technical guidance to crane operators, supervisors, and rigging teams. Inspection of Rigging EquipmentInspect lifting gear (slings, shackles, hooks, spreader beams, etc.) before use.Ensure all rigging equipment is certified, fit for purpose, and properly maintained.Remove defective equipment from service and report accordingly. Supervision and CoordinationSupervise rigging crews during lifting operations.Coordinate with crane operators, HODs, and other departments to ensure smooth execution.Ensure proper communication and signalling standards are followed (e.g., hand signals, radio). Documentation and Reporting.Maintain records of lifting plans, inspections, certifications, and permits.Document LMI readings and operational checks where required.Provide reports on lifting activities, incidents, and compliance status. Training and Competency Development.Mentor and guide riggers, signalers, and lifting personnel.Ensure all team members are competent and properly trained.Support ongoing improvement of rigging andThe Requirements:20+ years of hands-on experience in rigging and lifting operations following relevant trade or technical qualification.Qualified Rigger / Ropes man certification from a recognized trade test center.Certified as a Lifting Machinery Inspector (LMI).Strong expertise in rigging practices, lifting operations, equipment inspection, and safe load handling.Proficient in troubleshooting, lifting challenges and using lifting documentation and inspection systems.Strong practical expertise in rigging techniques, load calculations, crane operations, and inspection of lifting equipment (slings, shackles, lifting beams, etc.).-Solid understanding of lifting principles, equipment limitations, and safe lifting practices.-Technical Expertise: Familiarity with lifting documentation systems, permits, and inspection records (manual or digital systems).6-8 years of experience in a supervisory or team lead role, managing rigging crews and coordinating lifting activities.Proven ability in crew supervision, task allocation, and planning of daily lifting operations. Safety and Compliance:Working knowledge of HSE standards, including ISO 45001, OSHA, LOLER, or other applicable lifting regulations.
