Mechanical Engineer Supervisor ( Senior Mechanical Engineer) Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements. The Role The Mechanical Engineer Supervisor is responsible for providing senior on-site leadership and technical oversight within the Projects Department's SMP (Structural, Mechanical, Piping) section. This position functions as part of a critical dual-engineer structure designed to ensure operational continuity, drive high field productivity, and efficiently manage multi-disciplinary contractors. The successful candidate will spearhead the safe construction, integration, and quality assurance of complex heavy industrial mechanical installations on site. Location: On-site in Marsa AlamContract Type: Permanent, full-timeSchedule: 20/10 working rosterCompensation: Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package The Key ResponsibilitiesSMP Construction Oversight: Lead frontline, hands-on oversight of heavy construction operations specializing in steel structure fabrication, industrial piping assembly, and heavy mechanical equipment integration.Code & Standards Compliance: Manage industrial steel layouts, welding procedures, and precision alignment frameworks in strict compliance with international engineering codes, specifically AWS and ASME.Piping & Mechanical Integration: Direct pipeline fabrication, field welding execution, hydrostatic pressure testing, and precision component alignment for industrial valves, pumps, and specialized plant fittings.Quality Assurance & Control: Enforce rigorous QA/QC inspection and testing procedures for all structural steel and piping deliverables to guarantee 100% adherence to design drawings and project engineering specifications.Technical Blueprint Troubleshooting: Demonstrate absolute fluency in reading, interpreting, and troubleshooting complex technical engineering drawings, structural schematics, and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).Contractor & Field Leadership: Actively manage and coordinate multi-disciplinary contractor crews and over 60 internal field personnel. The RequirementsEducation & Qualifications: A formal Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering is strictly mandatory.Experience: Over 5 years of experience is required, with a strong target of 6 to 10 years of direct, on-site construction experience within the heavy industrial, infrastructure, or heavy construction sectors. Prior gold mining industry experience is not required.Technical Skills (Non-Negotiable): A deep, verifiable background in on-site heavy construction environments. Absolute fluency in written and spoken technical English is required to seamlessly collaborate with international stakeholders, site teams, and suppliers.
