UX/UI Team Lead

UX/UI Team Lead is responsible for leading the user experience and user interface design function for digital government services. This role ensures that citizen-facing and internal digital platforms are accessible, user-centered, compliant with government standards, and aligned with the organization's digital transformation objectives. The UX/UI Team Lead manages a team of designers and researchers, collaborates with business units, IT teams, and stakeholders, and drives the adoption of design standards and best practices to improve service delivery and user satisfaction.ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team ManagementLead, mentor, and manage UX/UI designers and researchers.Establish design governance, standards, and quality assurance processes.Plan and allocate team resources across projects and initiatives.Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development.Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.User Experience StrategyDefine and implement UX strategies that support the organization's digital transformation goals.Advocate for citizen-centric and employee-centric design approaches.Develop user personas, service blueprints, journey maps, and information architecture.Ensure digital services are intuitive, efficient, and accessible to diverse user groups.Research & UsabilityLead user research activities, including interviews, workshops, surveys, and usability testing.Analyze user feedback and behavioral data to identify opportunities for improvement.Translate research findings into actionable recommendations.Monitor user satisfaction and service adoption metrics.UI Design & Design SystemsOversee the design of responsive web and mobile interfaces.Establish and maintain government-approved design systems and style guides.Ensure consistency across digital services and platforms.Review and approve wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs.Accessibility & ComplianceEnsure compliance with accessibility standards such as WCAG and applicable government regulations.Promote inclusive design practices that support users of all abilities.Ensure designs comply with branding, privacy, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.Stakeholder ManagementCollaborate with business owners, project managers, developers, and external vendors.Facilitate workshops and design-thinking sessions with stakeholders.Present design concepts, research findings, and recommendations to senior management.Support procurement and evaluation of UX/UI-related tools and services.Project DeliveryParticipate in project planning, prioritization, and roadmap development.Ensure timely delivery of design outputs within approved budgets and schedules.Coordinate design activities across multiple concurrent projects.Support agile and waterfall project delivery methodologies as required.QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in UX Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.ExperienceMinimum 7 years of experience in UX/UI design, digital product design, or service design.Minimum 3 years of experience leading design teams.Experience delivering large-scale digital platforms or e-government services is preferred.Experience working within public sector, regulatory, or highly governed environments is an advantage.Technical SkillsExpertise in UX research, interaction design, information architecture, and visual design.Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and related platforms.Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility, and usability principles.Familiarity with front-end technologies and development workflows.Experience with design systems and component libraries.
