This position will be in Damascus, Syria, and the candidate will need to relocatePosition ObjectivesPlan and optimise DWDM and optical transport network capacity, covering wavelength planning, optical path design, equipment capacity, protection, diversity, and implementation-ready transport documentation.Job Description and ResponsibilitiesPrepare DWDM/optical transport plans for backbone, metro, and inter-site connectivity requirements.Translate traffic demand, service requirements, and IP/MPLS needs into wavelength, channel, OTN, and transport capacity plans.Design and validate optical paths, protection schemes, diversity, regeneration requirements, ROADM/OADM usage (including CDC-F ROADM), transponder capacity, and power budget constraints.Strong in optical spectrum, such as ITU-T grids and Flex Grid as Super Channels.Knowledge about multilayer protection, from optical like OLP to ASON to L2 as G.8032 (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching - ERPS) or equivalent.Synchronism in frequency and phase, SyncE and IEEE 1588v2 (PTP).Review existing transport inventory, fibre routes, shelf/card/port capacity, wavelength utilisation, and as-built records.Coordinate with fibre planners, IP/MPLS planners, operations, vendors, and implementation teams to align optical plans with physical route and service requirements.Prepare planning outputs, including wavelength allocation, trail/path records, equipment/card requirements, port assignments, and migration plans.Support reconciliation of planned DWDM services with network inventory, circuit records, and NMS/EMS data.Identify risks related to capacity exhaustion, lack of route diversity, optical impairments, incompatible equipment, or inaccurate records.Ensure plans follow vendor engineering guidelines, standards, naming conventions, and documentation governance.Strong stakeholder management and practical communication with technical and non-technical teams.close attention to detail, quality mindset, and structured documentation habits.Ability to work under delivery pressure while maintaining accuracy and governance.Strong problem-solving skills and ownership of assigned deliverables.Collaborative mindset across planning, engineering, operations, rollout, and vendor teams.English and Arabic – mandatory.Qualification and Required SkillsBachelor's degree in Telecom or equivalent.7+ years in DWDM/OTN/optical transport planning or engineering.Strong knowledge of wavelengths, OTN, ROADM, transponders, muxponders, protection, optical budgets, latency, and fibre impairments.Experience with major optical vendors and NMS/EMS/inventory systems.Experience with DWDM CDC-F and the most recent technology.Ability to validate transport paths using fibre, port, shelf, card, and circuit data.Experience producing implementation-ready transport planning documents and migration inputs.Relevant Certificates:Vendor optical transport certifications preferred.MEF/Carrier Ethernet or OTN training is an advantage.ITIL Foundation preferred.
