LV Mechanic ( Light Vehicle Mechanic )Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements. The Role The LV Mechanic is responsible for executing both planned and unplanned maintenance work activities on a shift-by-shift basis safely and effectively. Operating within the Mobile Maintenance department, this frontline technical role focuses on performing inspections, fault-finding, and repairs on the site’s light vehicle and auxiliary fleet. Location: On-site in Marsa AlamContract Type: Permanent, full-timeSchedule: 20/10 working rosterCompensation: Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package The Key ResponsibilitiesInspection & Defect Identification: Carry out regular equipment inspections to ensure corrective work is identified and captured before it develops into a major mechanical breakdown. Ensure sufficient technical information is gathered via the work request or defect notice process.Task Prioritization: Prioritize identified maintenance tasks according to potential risks to Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and total equipment availability.Shift Handover Communication: Actively participate in pre-start and shift handover meetings to discuss potential safety hazards, ongoing maintenance activities from previous shifts, progress updates, and scheduled work statuses with incoming or off-going crews.Maintenance Execution & Tooling: Collect all required tools, replacement parts, and specialized equipment prior to starting a task to promote efficient maintenance practices. Execute all repairs to a high standard of workmanship with a goal of achieving zero re-work.Testing & Commissioning: Test and commission machinery post-repair to verify that all faults are fully rectified, maintenance activities were completely effective, and the asset is returned to operation in a fit-for-purpose condition.Safety & Risk Management: Adhere strictly to all site and corporate requirements regarding the use of work permits, risk assessments, equipment isolations (lock-out/tag-out), and hazard management. Ensure a "Zero Harm" environment is maintained.Documentation & Housekeeping: Complete all required maintenance documentation (including PM sheets and inspection logs) in full, recording actual results to the required standard. Clean and tag components requiring off-site repair or core return, return unused parts back to inventory, and report broken or missing tooling. Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized workspace.Supervisory Directives: Undertake operational duties outside the immediate scope of work at times, as directed by the immediate supervisor or department manager.The RequirementsEducation & Qualifications: A formal Certificate in Maintenance or an equivalent technical trade qualification is required.License: Must hold a valid driver's license.Experience: A minimum of 1 year of post-qualification active experience working within the automotive, heavy equipment, or heavy construction industries. Prior gold mining experience is not mandatory.Technical & Job-Specific Skills:Proven capability to drive vehicles and safely operate plant and equipment.Sound understanding of Caterpillar equipment, components, and diagnostic systems.Demonstrated ability to identify workplace hazards and perform basic risk assessments.Ability to read, interpret, and follow workshop service manuals and technical schematics.Strong troubleshooting and mechanical fault-finding skills.Language & General Skills: Ability to read and write clearly in both Arabic and English .
