HE Mechanic (Heavy Equipment Mechanic) Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements. The Role The HE Mechanic is responsible for executing both planned and unplanned maintenance work activities on a shift-by-shift basis safely and effectively. Operating within the Mobile Maintenance department, this frontline technical role focuses on executing high-quality equipment inspections, fault-finding, and repairs on the heavy mobile fleet to improve Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and deliver results that meet quality standards and company expectation Location: On-site in Marsa AlamContract Type: Permanent, full-timeSchedule: 20/10 working rosterCompensation: Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package The Key ResponsibilitiesInspection & Proactive Identification: Carry out thorough heavy equipment inspections (including lifting components, sticks, buckets, track frames, and undercarriages) to ensure corrective work is flagged and reported to supervisors before it results in an operational breakdown.Work Order Diagnostics: Capture accurate, comprehensive information using the standard work request and defect notice processes to facilitate precise maintenance planning and execution.Task Prioritization: Prioritize all identified maintenance tasks based on potential risks to Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and total equipment availability.Shift Handover & Field Alignment: Active participation in daily pre-start meetings and shift changeovers to discuss ongoing work, historical shift progress, changing mining plans, and potential safety hazards with incoming or off-going crews.Maintenance Execution & Tooling: Efficiently gather all required parts, documentation, and specialized tools prior to starting a task. Execute mechanical repairs to an exceptional standard of workmanship with a target of zero re-work.Testing & Commissioning: Rigorously test and commission machinery post-repair to verify that all hydraulic or mechanical faults are rectified, the maintenance intervention was fully effective, and the asset is returned in a fit-for-purpose condition.Safety & Isolation Compliance: Maintain 100% adherence to all site and company compliance procedures regarding work permits, hazard risk assessments, equipment isolations, and general risk management to ensure a "Zero Harm" workplace.Documentation & Housekeeping: Complete all technical maintenance documentation (including PM sheets and inspection logs) in full, recording all actual data results. Clean and tag core components requiring repair, return unused parts to warehouse stock, report damaged tooling, and maintain pristine workspace housekeeping standards.The RequirementsEducation & Qualifications: A formal Certificate in Maintenance or an equivalent recognized technical trade qualification is required.License: Must hold a valid driver's license.Experience: At least 2 years of post-qualification active experience working in the heavy equipment, heavy automotive, or heavy construction industries. Sourcing strategies prioritize candidates with proven technical experience handling heavy earthmoving equipment, particularly excavators and large shovels. Prior gold mining industry experience is not required.Technical & Job-Specific Skills:Demonstrated ability to drive cars, operate plant, and maneuver support equipment safely.Sound practical understanding of Caterpillar equipment, heavy machine systems, and diagnostic software.Comprehensive knowledge of high-pressure hydraulic systems is highly desirable.Proven capability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot using technical workshop manuals, service instructions, and schematic blueprints.Strong independent problem-solving and mechanical fault-finding skills.Language & Communication Skills: Clear capability to read and write in both Arabic and English
