IT System AdministratorAngloGold Ashanti acquired the Sukari gold mine in Egypt through the acquisition of Centamin plc in November 2024. Sukari is owned in partnership with the Egyptian Government. Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements. The Role The System Admin is responsible for the continuous maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of corporate computer systems, high-availability email networks, and central servers across the Sukari operation. Operating within the IT Department, this role balances daily operations, server virtualization management, and multi-tiered helpdesk escalations with critical research and development to align infrastructure architecture with ongoing digital transformation initiatives.. Location: On-site in Marsa AlamContract Type: Permanent, full-timeSchedule: 20/10 working rosterCompensation: Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package The Key ResponsibilitiesServer & Desktop Administration: Perform core infrastructure administration tasks, including managing user/group parameters, complex security permissions, group policies, print services, and resource monitoring to ensure system components work together seamlessly.Active Directory Lifecycle Management: Take full operational ownership, execution, and troubleshooting within a centralized Microsoft Active Directory environment. Create, modify, and delete user accounts and email profiles as requested.Network Infrastructure & Virtualization: Manage core services utilizing Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, PowerShell scripting, LAN/WAN networking principles, and Microsoft IIS platforms. Maintain hypervisor environments including VMWare Server/ESX and Microsoft Hyper-V architectures.Email & Database High Availability: Manage and maintain Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 high-availability and site-resilience cluster environments. Administer and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments (versions 2012 through 2019).SharePoint Ecosystem Optimization: Oversee the administration, layout maintenance, design, and implementation of the corporate SharePoint platform using Microsoft Flow, PowerApps, SharePoint Designer, and Microsoft InfoPath forms.Backup, Recovery & Disaster Planning: Lead daily backup/recovery operations, verify data integrity, recycle media off-site, and continuously enhance data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures to meet changing operational needs.Hardware & Vendor Management: Manage high-performance Cisco UCS and HPE blade server environments alongside SAN Storage networks. Liaise directly with external technology suppliers (Microsoft, HPE, VERITAS, Kaspersky, Acronis) for procurement, diagnostic tools, software support, licenses, and warranties.Escalation Support & Compliance: Provide Tier II support for tickets escalated from the helpdesk, leading troubleshooting efforts for desktop applications and system configuration metrics for peripheral hardware. Research automated approaches for routine tasks while enforcing strict compliance standards against ITIL, ISO 27001, and COBIT frameworks. The RequirementsEducation & Qualifications: A formal Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an information systems-related field is highly preferred.Mandatory Certification: MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert): Server Infrastructure is strictly required.Highly Desirable Certifications: MCSE: Messaging, MCSE: Private Cloud, or CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) credentials are highly advantageous.Experience: A minimum of 1 year of active experience in an identical system administration role managing Microsoft enterprise environments is required. Working knowledge of managed antivirus systems, Microsoft System Center suites, and blade server/SAN environments is necessary. Prior gold mining experience is not required.
