Their responsibilities span requirements definition, design, verification, and production, often within cross‑disciplinary teams supporting new product development and customer‑specific solutions. They collaborate closely with research, testing, and engineering groups to deliver robust embedded functionality activated through sensors, external controls, or system interfacesAs a Topside Controls Engineer -you will be responsible for:Developing and maintaining PLC and/or SCADA applications, including creating new functions, troubleshooting issues, managing source control, and ensuring code quality through best practices.Reporting project progress and resource status regularly, and providing technical input to project plans as needed.Collaborating with the global engineering team to ensure unit engineering meets contract specifications and complies with local regulatory requirements.To be successful in this role you will:Hold a Technical Diploma or higher in related field.Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in software development - oil & gas experience is preffered.Bring automation experience with strong expertise in PLC and HMI/SCADA technologies (Twincat Soft PLC and Ignition SCADA preferred).Have hands‑on experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP, CAN, Ethernet UDP, and OPC UA.Demonstrate solid knowledge of object‑oriented design principles and modern software development methodologies.Show deep understanding of software development processes, with a track record of driving quality and process improvements.Use analytical tools effectively to support product development and problem‑solving, have proven experience delivering small‑scale engineering or automation projects.Possess strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills, and be willing to travel to company‑assigned sites.Work in a way that works for youWe recognize that everyone is different and that the way in which people want to work and deliver at their best is different for everyone too.
