Heavy Crane Truck Operator Sukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009 and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements. The Role The Heavy Crane Truck Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Iveco T-Way 8x8 Crane Truck. This specialized role requires an expert level of competence in handling high-capacity, remote-controlled hydraulic cranes (90 TM class) in challenging open-pit terrain. The Operator is fully accountable for executing complex lifts of up to 22 tonnes and managing the logistical transport of oversized loads across the mine site. Any attempt to bypass or override the Electronic Lift Moment Limiter is a major Cardinal Rule breach.Line of Fire Protection: Establish and strictly enforce a physical 360° barrier around the lifting zone. No personnel are permitted within the maximum reach radius of the Fassi crane unless the load is grounded and the remote control is completely "dead".Pre-Operational Readiness: Accept total accountability for the "Ready-to-Work" status of the unit by adhering to all site-related safety standards, procedures, and inductions. Operational Execution & Lift MechanicsLifting Moment Control: Take direct responsibility for the crane's lifting moment by manually verifying load weights against the digital ADC (Automatic Dynamic Control) to ensure the system never reaches a critical cut-off point during a live lift.Equipment Positioning: Select safe setup ground within the open pit and utilize heavy-duty pads to distribute outrigger pressure, actively preventing ground subsidence or "punch-through".Remote Operations: Maintain full line-of-sight and machine control via the RCH/RCS radio remote control, ensuring personal safety and area safety while operating outside the truck cab.Logistics & Securement: Ensure all cargo transported on the 8x8 chassis is fully secured via Twist-Locks or rated lashing, specifically engineering loads for transit on steep pit inclines and uneven haul roads.Maintenance Execution: Perform planned maintenance-related lifts as detailed in the weekly plan, as well as unplanned emergency work directed by the Superintendent. Reporting & CollaborationDaily Documentation: Complete detailed daily prestart inspections on the machine. Update and log daily vehicle movements and completed lifts.Incident Escalation: Report equipment faults, mechanical issues, or safety concerns immediately to the workshop or relevant supervisors.Planning Engagement: Attend and actively participate in weekly planning and mine planning meetings to ensure equipment movements are scheduled accurately.Qualifications, Experience & SkillsValid Heavy Vehicle (HV) License and HV Operator License.Ability to secure required Site Specific Inductions, Mining Permits, and Operating Permits.Demonstrated expert experience with high-capacity hydraulic cranes and advanced rigging techniques.5+ years of direct experience operating high-capacity hydraulic cranes.Prior experience operating heavy equipment in a mining or heavy construction environment is highly preferred.Proven mastery of load-securing requirements, rigging configurations, and equipment capability calculations.Core CompetenciesHigh level of discipline to follow strict operational standards and procedures without direct supervision.Ability to identify job scopes and perform dynamic risk assessments associated with heavy lifting tasks.Strong collaborative mindset to work seamlessly alongside the Heavy Vehicle (HV) maintenance team and mine operations teams.Analytical problem-solving skills and operational initiative.
