octo education GmbH supports universities, higher education institutions, and education providers across the DACH region with software solutions that digitize and automate administrative and educational processes. As an independent IT service provider with offices in Germany, Switzerland, and Egypt, octo currently employs around 60 highly skilled and dedicated people. Our international teams collaborate closely across locations, with English as our daily working language. We follow an AI-first approach and integrate modern AI tools such as Cursor and Claude into our day-to-day development workflow. We expect all new team members to embrace this way of working and to use AI as an integral part of their daily work.  Education staff and learners spend hours using our platform every day, navigating complex workflows, information-rich interfaces, and multiple user roles. As a UI/UX Designer, you'll help create experiences that are clearer, faster, and more intuitive—improving one user journey at a time. This is a product design role focused on building and enhancing core platform features rather than marketing assets. You'll design interfaces such as: Administrative dashboards  Booking and scheduling workflows  Participant portals  Certificate generation  Role-based user experiences  Working closely with developers throughout agile sprint cycles, you'll remain involved from concept to implementation—answering questions, refining designs when technical constraints arise, and continuously iterating to ensure the best possible user experience. What You'll Do Conduct user research with trainers, administrators, and participants to identify usability challenges and opportunities  Analyze and map user journeys, define information architecture, and simplify complex workflows  Design wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity user interfaces in Figma  Build, maintain, and evolve a scalable design system including reusable components, patterns, and design tokens  Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, and cross-functional product discussions  Prepare developer-ready design specifications and handoff documentation  Collaborate closely with engineers throughout implementation to ensure design quality  Plan and conduct usability tests, translating findings into product improvements  Use AI-powered tools to support research, content creation, ideation, and design workflows  Continuously iterate and improve designs based on user feedback, technical feasibility, and business requirements  Must Have Strong proficiency in Figma, including components, Auto Layout, prototyping, and developer handoff  Experience applying a structured UX design process, including user research, user flows, and information architecture  Ability to clearly explain design decisions based on user needs and business objectives rather than visual preferences alone  Understanding of responsive design principles and accessibility best practices  Technical awareness that enables effective collaboration with software developers  Fluent written and spoken English for daily communication, documentation, and agile ceremonies  A portfolio showcasing end-to-end design projects, including research, problem-solving process, design decisions, and outcomes  Nice to Have Experience creating or maintaining design systems and component libraries  Experience designing B2B SaaS or enterprise products, such as dashboards, administrative platforms, or management tools  Knowledge of UX writing, including interface labels, microcopy, empty states, and error messages  Experience planning and conducting usability testing  Interest in solving complex enterprise UX challenges rather than consumer-focused applications  A user-centered mindset with the confidence to advocate for usability throughout the development process  Self-motivated and eager to help establish and grow design practices within a collaborative product team  Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Graduates of the ITI UI/UX Design Program with strong graduation projects and a process-driven portfolio are especially welcome. Our Offer The opportunity to work on meaningful product design challenges—not portfolio exercises  Direct collaboration with users, product stakeholders, and developers from day one  An AI-first design workflow with access to modern tools and technologies  An international working environment with daily communication in English  Medical and social insurance  Hybrid work model: 2 days in our Nasr City office and the remaining days remote  Excellent opportunities for professional growth and the chance to shape the design function as the product scales  We review every portfolio carefully. We are interested not only in polished interfaces, but in your design thinking, problem-solving approach, and the reasoning behind your decisions.
