Charge Up Leading HandSukari is located approximately 750km from Cairo and 25km from Marsa Alam on the Red Sea. First gold was poured in June 2009, and commercial production began in April 2010, making Sukari the first modern gold mine in Egypt, a country which in ancient times was a prolific producer of the precious metal. Sukari conducts both open-pit and underground mining operations, each employing specialised mining methods tailored to the orebody characteristics and operational requirements. The Role The Charge Up Leading Hand leads underground charge-up activities to deliver safe, compliant and timely blasting outcomes that enable planned production. The role controls explosives handling, charging quality and blast initiation coordination in line with statutory requirements and Sukari procedures.The position maintains accurate explosive accounting and blast documentation and supervises charge-up operators to apply critical controls, disciplined work practices and continuous improvement in blast performance.Location: Sukari Gold Mine, EgyptContract Type: Full TimeSchedule: Shift-based underground roster aligned to production and blasting windows The Key ResponsibilitiesShift charge-up planning: Conduct pre-shift briefings, allocate tasks and confirm locations are prepared to meet the shift production plan.Explosives preparation and transport: Verify issuance, security, quantities and integrity; control custody and underground distribution.Charging and stemming supervision: Ensure correct product selection, quantities and placement; verify primer placement, tie-up sequencing and stemming quality with in-process QA checks.Blast initiation coordination: Obtain firing authorizations, control exclusion zones, clear personnel and equipment, and initiate blasts on schedule using approved systems.Post-blast inspection and feedback: Confirm misfire status, re-entry conditions and handover readiness; report variances and capture lessons learned.Explosives accounting and documentation: Complete blast reports and issue/return records; submit shift consumption and performance inputs; maintain audit-ready traceability.HSE and team leadership: Enforce explosives critical controls, lead risk assessments and coach charge-up operators to sustain safe, compliant execution. The Requirements High School Certificate or Technical/Vocational Diploma (or equivalent).Valid Blasting Licence/Shotfirer Certificate, explosives handling/transport authorization, valid driving licence and site-required underground explosives permits.Minimum 5 years’ underground mining experience including charge-up and blast execution; at least 2 years leading or coordinating charge-up activities on shift.Proven record of safe, compliant blasting with accurate explosive accounting and disciplined documentation.Competence with initiation systems (NONEL/electronic where applicable), primer/booster placement, tie-up verification, stemming quality and firing discipline.Strong communication in Arabic and English for frontline supervision and reporting.Physical fitness to work underground on a shift roster with sustained PPE use and overtime as required.Technical Diploma in Mining/Explosives and frontline leadership training preferred.
