Reports to: Senior Director-Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Role Purpose:This role provides financial leadership and compliance oversight for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. It manages the complete financial lifecycle of Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, ensuring strict adherence to donor regulations, and AUC policies. The job holder directs the budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes, streamlines financial procedures, and oversees procurement to ensure value for money and audit readiness. The job holder is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective use of program funds, managing logistical aspects of the program, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and policies.Core Responsibilities Financial Management and Compliance: Manage the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program budget, providing day-to-day guidance to staffReview and validate the grant’s quarterly financial reports, annual projected expenses, and other donor-mandated reportsMaintain and develop the unit’s internal financial controls in line with best practices and audit requirementsLiaise with AUC supporting offices to handle all financial aspects related to the Mastercard Foundation Scholars ProgramBudgeting and Strategy: Plan annual financial goals to address work cycles and implement efficient cost-control methodsAnalyze deviations between actual and budgeted expenses, advising the senior director on corrective actionsAdhere to donors’ rules and regulations and AUC policies to ensure accounting activities remain compliantFinancial Operations: Oversee the program’s financial operations to ensure the program’s goods and services are secure and value for money is achievedEstablish mechanisms to obtain quotations and identify best offers for program needs Additional Related Duties: Perform other related duties as assignedQualifications and SkillsEducation and Experience MA in accounting, finance, or commerce is a mustMinimum of 12 years of total experience, including eight years of relevant professional managerial experiencePrevious experience working in externally funded projects is a must Technical Skills: Technical: Deep knowledge of accounting proceduresDigital: Good knowledge of SAP and excellent computer skillsCommunication: Fluency in English, with good communication and interpersonal skillsAnalytical: Ability to analyze complex financial data and produce accurate forecasts This position is open until June 1st, 2026Placement is based on the candidate’s experience and skills.
