Job PurposeWe are seeking an experienced SAP PP/QM Consultant to join our ERP Applications team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing, configuring, and supporting the SAP Production Planning (PP) and Quality Management (QM) modules, ensuring optimal manufacturing execution, production scheduling, and quality assurance processes across the organization. This role demands deep functional expertise in both modules, strong cross-functional integration knowledge, and the ability to work closely with production, planning, and quality teams to deliver robust SAP solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Planning – Master Data (PP-MD)Configure and maintain core PP master data: Material Master (MRP views), Bills of Materials (BOM), Work Centers, Routings, and Production VersionsSet up BOM usage, BOM categories (simple, variant, multiple), and BOM explosion for MRP and production ordersDefine work center capacities, formulas, and scheduling parameters for finite and infinite schedulingMaintain routing operations, control keys, standard values, and production resource tools (PRT)Material Requirements Planning (PP-MRP)Configure MRP types, lot-sizing procedures, planning horizons, and safety stock strategiesManage MRP planning runs (regenerative, net change, and net change in planning horizon) and exception message processingSet up demand management, including Planned Independent Requirements (PIR) and Customer Independent Requirements (CIR)Configure make-to-stock (MTS) and make-to-order (MTO) planning strategies and schedule line categoriesProduction Orders & Shop Floor Control (PP-SFC)Configure production order types, order profiles, scheduling parameters, and availability checksSet up goods movements for production: goods issue (GI) for components and goods receipt (GR) for finished goodsManage backflushing, milestone confirmations, partial confirmations, and time ticket processingConfigure production order settlement, variance calculation, and WIP (Work-In-Progress) accountingRepetitive Manufacturing & Process IndustriesConfigure repetitive manufacturing profiles, rate-based planning, and production list processingSet up run schedule headers, planning table configuration, and backflushing for repetitive scenariosConfigure process orders, master recipes, resources, and process instructions for process industry scenarios (PI/PO)Support integration with SAP PM (Plant Maintenance) for equipment and functional location assignmentsCapacity Planning & SchedulingConfigure capacity planning profiles, capacity categories, and available capacity definitionsSet up capacity leveling using CM21/CM22 and forward/backward scheduling for production ordersDefine scheduling margins, float times, and in-house production times for accurate delivery date calculationSupport Advanced Planning integration (SAP APO/IBP) for demand-driven production scheduling if applicableQuality Management – Inspection Planning (QM-PT)Configure quality inspection types, inspection lots, and sampling procedures for incoming, in-process, and final inspectionsSet up master inspection characteristics (MIC), inspection methods, and inspection catalogs (code groups and codes)Create and maintain inspection plans, control charts, and dynamic modification rules for samplingConfigure quality info records for vendors and customers to trigger automatic quality inspectionsQuality Notifications & Non-Conformance (QM-QN)Configure quality notifications for defect recording, complaints, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)Set up notification types, task codes, partner functions, and workflow for quality issue resolutionManage usage decision processing, stock postings (unrestricted, blocked, scrap), and lot dispositionConfigure quality certificates (QM-CA) for customer and vendor certificate managementStatistical Process Control & Quality ReportingConfigure control charts (X-bar, R, S, p, np charts) and SPC parameters for process monitoringSet up quality scores, defect recording, and vendor quality evaluation integration with MMDevelop quality management information system (QMIS) reports and KPI dashboards for production qualitySupport audit management and compliance reporting aligned with ISO 9001 / GMP standardsVariant Configuration (VC) ExpertiseProven hands-on experience in SAP Variant Configuration (VC) is strictly required. Must be proficient in setting up characteristics, classes, configuration profiles, object dependencies, super BOMs, and super routings.Implementation & Project DeliveryLead or participate in full-cycle SAP PP/QM implementations: blueprinting, configuration, testing, go-live, and hypercare supportPrepare functional specifications for custom developments, user exits, BAdIs, and RICEF objectsExecute unit testing, system integration testing (SIT), and user acceptance testing (UAT)Develop and deliver end-user training programs and documentation for production and quality teamsSupport, Operations & IntegrationProvide SAP PP/QM production support and resolve incidents within SLAPerform month-end closing activities: order settlement, variance analysis, and WIP calculationManage cross-module integration: PP-MM (procurement triggers), PP-FI/CO (cost postings), PP-SD (sales orders to production), and PP-QM (inspection lots)Coordinate with BASIS for transports, system upgrades, and SAP S/4HANA migration activitiesSecurity & Authorizations LeadServe as the subject matter expert (SME) for SAP roles and authorizations.
